In full disclosure, the past few years I have been kind of a Christmas scrooge. I don’t like the attention all being on me and also there’s so many phone calls. I love my family but talking to them all and arranging skype with my dad and siblings is stressful.
This year however, I was the first one to put Christmas songs on and I’ve been having a blast eating chocolate everyday (whoever invented advent calendars is a GOD) and counting down the days till exams are over and I can have three weeks to read freely. And so what better festive tag then the Christmas song tag.
1- “You’re a Mean One, Mr Grinch” – Name a Villainous Character You Couldn’t Help But Love.
Holland from A Darker Shade of Magic. I have a soft spot for him.
2- “All I Want For Christmas Is You” – Which Book Do You Most Hope To See Under Your Christmas Tree.
The Copper Gauntlet by Cassandra Clare and Holly Black. There’s more but I remember asking for this one and I really want to carry on The Magisterium series.
3- “Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer” – Name a Character That Overcomes Major Obstacles and Learns To Believe in Themselves.
Starr from The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. She goes through a whole lot of shit in this book but she overcomes so much and stands up for what she believes.
4- “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”: a) Which character do you think would be on the top of the naughty list? b) Which character do you think would be at the top of the nice list?
a) Kas Brekker. I love him but he legit gauged out some guys eyeball. That of course was the moment I fell in love with him but I doubt Father Christmas would be so proud.
b) David Wymack from the All For The Game trilogy. He’s a sweetie and needs more love and affection. He also needs a whole lot of gifts for putting up with the shit the Foxes bring to his doorstep.
5– “Frosty the Snowman”: Which book just melts your heart.
Ari and Dante by Benjamin Alire Saenz. I know that isn’t the full title but its too long to write. It’s less the book itself that melts my heart but more the characters who grow so much and who I love.
6– “Feliz Navidad”: Choose a book that takes place in a country other than your own.
Literally any book I read. I’m from England and live in Spain. So for this I’m going with City of Bones by Victoria Schwab which for the majority of the book is set in Scotland. I haven’t read many books set there and I loved the atmosphere.
7- “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”: Which holiday themed book do you use to spread the Christmas joy?
None. I really don’t have a Christmas book that I read. I suppose the cliché answer is Harry Potter which I usually find myself reading around this time of the year.
8– “Sleigh Ride”: Which fictional character would you choose to spend the holidays with (doesn’t have to be a love interest!)?
So many. I think Magnus Chase and his friends would be fun to spend Christmas with, especially in Valhalla, although I suppose Vikings don’t really celebrate Christmas …
9- “Baby it’s Cold Outside”: Which book that you didn’t like would you sacrifice to a fire to warm yourself up in the cold?
I’m more then happy to sacrifice either of these books but I suppose since I don’t own a physical copy of The Sumer I turned Pretty it’ll have to be Away We Go.
10- “Do you hear what I hear”: Which book do you think everyone should read?
I really didn’t want to recommend this again. I tried to choose something different but I just cant. No other book can compete with The Exact Opposite of Okay in terms of everyone should read it. Please just pick it up because its so good.
I’m not tagging anyone cause that is scary and I am an anxious and socially awkward bean but thank you for reading and Merry Christmas!!!!
