Hello and welcome back to my blog 🙂
Today I thought I’d do a book tag, my first of the year.
As you can telly by the title I am doing the Harry Potter Spells tag created by Kimberly Faye Reads.
Back in late November/early December I accomplished the impossible and convinced my mum to read the Harry Potter series. She came to love it so much that she made me and my brother watch the movie of whichever of the books she’d just finished.
This year I want to complete my reread of the series which I started last year by reading the final 4 books accept after watching all my faves die on screen, I’m not finding myself all that motivated to pick up the books and read about their deaths. I’m hoping this tag will bring out my inner potterhead.
Accio– AND UPCOMING RELEASE YOU WISH YOU COULD GET YOUR HANDS ON RIGHT NOW.
A Girl Called Shamless by Laura Steven, the sequel to The Exact Opposite of Okay. However I’m also finding myself super excited for Like a Love Story by Abdi Nazemian
Alohamora– FAVORITE SERIES STARTER.
I haven’t yet read the sequel but I’m struggling to think of any others which is why I’m going with Gentlemans Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mckenzie Lee because it’s hilarious and Monty and Percy deserve the world.
Also I can’t not mention Six of Crows. I was trying to not say this we all know it’s great but I feel like I’d go to hell if I didn’t.
Cheering Charm– A BOOK THAT GAVE YOU ALL THE WARM FUZZIES.
Simon Vs The Homosapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli definitely. It’s so fluffy and adorable.
Aguamenti– A BOOK THAT MADE YOU UGLY CRY.
Of course the answer to this is a Cassandra Clare book and it’s a toss up between Lord of Shadows or the infamous epilogue of Clockwork Princess.
Expecto Patronum– BOOKISH HERO OR HEROINE YOU WANT AROUND TO PROTECT YOU IN REAL LIFE.
Celeana Sardothian because 1) she’s badass as fuck and 2) she’s also a dog loving book nerd so I think we’d get on, which is obviously the most important thing.
Lumos– A BOOK YOU INTENTIONALLY SPOILED FOR YOURSELF.
Literally all of them. I never mean to but I am a weak human who reads headcannons or fanfiction before finishing series. And if it’s a tv series I’m even worse I literally go online to see if people die/get together etc.
Imperio– A BOOK YOU WISH YOU COULD MAKE EVERYONE READ BECAUSE YOU LOVED IT SO MUCH.
Engorgio– A BOOK OR SERIES YOU WISH NEVER ENDED.
Magnus Chase and The Gods of Asgard by Rick Riordan. It’s not even that I never want it to end I just want it to be more then just a trilogy. The fact I only got to spend 3 books with these characters is criminal.
Wingardium Leviosa– A BOOK WITH AN UPLIFTING ENDING OR MESSAGE.
I’m trying so hard to think of a book with an “uplifting ending” but literally all of them are depressing …
Obliviate– A BOOK YOU WISH YOU COULD FORGET YOU EVER READ
HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD!
Like, I find the whole thing hilarious now but not in a good way. I could have quite happily lived without that and I wish it never existed. Literally the only decent thing from the entire thing is my boy Scorpius Malfoy.
Anapneo– AN AUTHOR WHOSE BOOKS ALWAYS GET YOU OUT OF A SLUMP
My man Rick Riordan. His writing style, characters and humour are all so familiar at this point that reading any of his books can probably drag me from a slump.
Jelly Legs Jinx– A SWOON-WORTHY HERO OR HEROINE
Liam Stewart from The Darkest Minds trilogy by Alexandra Bracken. I can’t help it. Everytime he calls Ruby “darlin‘” I die a little inside.
Aresto Momentum– A BOOK THAT CAUSED YOU TO STOP DOING ALL OTHER THINGS UNTIL YOU FINISHED IT
The entire All For The Game series by Nora Sakavic. I flew through these books the first time and on my reread and didn’t want to do anything else.
Crucio– A BOOK THAT WAS PAINFUL TO READ (FOR WHATEVER REASON) OR BROKE YOU.
Illuminae was a hard one for me to get through. It was painful because so many people loved it and I did not. Also it was painful because my brain just wasnt used to the writing style and it gave me a headache.
Rictusempra– A BOOK THAT HAD YOU LAUGHING OUT LOUD.
Again, any Rick Riordan book especially his two most recent series, Trials of Apollo and Magnus Chase. Also Parsnips, Buttered by Joe Lycett, a hilarious British comedian who I love. It’s basically a compilation of his emails to the council and messing with the authority.
Expelliarmus– A BOOK THAT MADE YOU WANT TO SEND IT (OR YOUR EREADER) FLYING.
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Hann because I hate this book with a burning passion and I think I did throw my phone onto my pillow a few times to rant silently to myself at 4am when I read this.
Portus– BOOKISH WORLD YOU WISH YOU COULD VISIT.
The town of reapers in the book series Croak by Gina Damico. The little town in the first book had a great atmosphere.
Avada Kedavra– A CHARACTER DEATH THAT DESTROYED YOU.
Dobby. This is backed up by the fact that I watched his death in the movie the other day and was sobbing. (also if you’re reading this tag I’m guessing you’ve read the books so this is a better answer then spoiling a different book)
Stupefy– A BOOK WITH A SHOCKING TWIST OR ENDING.
I feel like One of Us Is Lying by Katherine McManus had a pretty shocking twist in it. Obviously not going to say what because *spoilers sweetie* but it was a great book.
Finite Incantatem– BEST SERIES CONCLUSION.
I don’t know if its the worlds best conclusion but I really enjoyed The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater. I don’t have any specific reasons why besides two characters getting together I shipped and also the introduction of Henry because I can’t remember much and I need to reread.
I actually had a whole lot of fun doing this tag even if I did get flashbacks to Dobbys death, I just played myself with that one really.
Thank you for reading xx
