January Wrap Up.

It’s been a month and it’s been a good ‘un!

Hello and happy Not January! We’re 1/12 of the way through the year already and I’ve already read 20% of my reading goal! My goal for this year was 60 books and in this past month I’ve read 12!

I was not expecting that but I’m very happy with myself and how this year has started off.

The first two books I completed this month were Lord of Shadows and also Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Claire. So yep, my year started off full of pain and heartbreak but god did I have a good time reading these and completing the trilogy. I absolutely flew through them. I did a whole review on The Dark Artifices trilogy and then I did a really long post with all my thoughts and feeling on Queen of Air and Darkness.

20190106_1058531719963128.jpgI then, to get over my pain, randomly picked up The Ghost Files Volume 5 by Apryl Baker. This is the finale of a guilt pleasure of mine. I marathoned the first four volumes a couple of months ago but this series is cheesey and it got a bit much after a while. This series follows a girl who can see ghosts and I think the first book is up for free online?

Again, another random thing I picked up, was To Look a Nazi in the Eye by Kathy Kacer. This follows a jewish girls who goes to the trial of a Nazi. I thought this was a really cool book, definitely something completely different to anything I’ve read before and I want to read more like this. Also this was a Netgalley arc so well done me.

I then read Fence Volume 1 because I have seen so much about this online and on Goodreads. I really enjoyed this first volume, I abosultely loved the writing style and as soon as the other issues are up for cheap I will definitely be carrying on.

In January I read the entire All For the Game trilogy … for the second time. I’m not even sorry, it was a year ago since my first reading and I was going through withdrawl. I have got a review of this half written but I procrastinate too much and it’s not finished. Highly recommend this series though because it’s fab!

I then read Bad Girls With Pretty Faces by Lynn Weingarten and hated it. There was barely any plot and I didn’t like the characters. It’s about a girl who catfishes her bestfriend/crush’s toxic girlfriend and then turns into this weird mystery.

After that I picked up The Bronze Key, the third book in the Magisterium series. This was probably my least favourite so far but I’m still finding this series super easy to fly through and I love the characters.

I read another ARC this month too! That’s two in one month! That’s more then I’ve read in a while and my goal to widdle down my Arcs is going well. The Deceivers by Kristen Simmons was a book I enjoyed, following a girl who’s accepted to a school for con-artists, it’s the start of a series which I think has pretty good potential.

And finally I picked up Marriage of Unconvenience by Chelsea M. Cameron, a super short but incredibly adorable f/f romance centred around a ‘fake’ marriage for inheritance money.

The book I am currently reading I’m going to mention too because I’m over 60% done with it. I am loving it and want to take every opportunity to talk about it and that is Watch Us Rise. Another ARC! This book is amazing, definitely going to be a five star read. Literally the only reason I haven’t finished it yet is because I’ve had two big exams to study for.
black-and-white-flowers-tumblr-transparent-12Overall I read a great mixture of books some great, some not so great. I’m really hoping to channel whatever magic was inside me and do it again in February … and the rest of the year.
