Hello and happy Wednesday!
So today’s topic is Books You Thought You’d Hate But Ended Up Loving and I have to admit I had a bit of trouble with this topic. To be honest with most of these its “books I was mildly indifferent about but ended up loving”.
All weekly topics can be found HERE.
1- A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
This book is wildly loved by many, many people so I really don’t know why I didn’t think I’d like this. I think it was more because I didn’t buy this book, it was gifted to me by my aunt. Either way this book was beautifully written and a really great story.
2- Ari and Dante by Benjamine Alire Saen

Forgive me for not writing out the whole title but really, who’s got time for that? I picked this up super randomly and was nervous going in. I don’t even remember why but in the end I was sleep deprived and walking round like a zombie because I loved this book and stayed up late into the night reading!
3- You’d be Mine by Erin Hahn
This is more a case of “not caring” to “actually really liking”. I received this as an ARC from Netgalley and it’s got two things I’m not a totally lover on: Romance and Country Music. Turns out I actually had a total blast reading this and actually highly recommend.
4- The Long Ride Home by Tawni Waters
This is another ARC I wasn’t all that into at first. I picked it up randomly one night when I could sleep and then fast forward to three am and I had read the whole thing and sobbing my heart out while trying not to wake my brother in the next room.
5- The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas
This one is probably the biggest stretch to fit this weeks topic. Again it was more a case of not thinking I’d like it as much as I ended up liking it. This is a novella about Celaena’s life before the Throne of Glass series and I thought each story would be random insights into her life and not like a full start to finish novel about her life. (does that make sense? probably not) Long story short I really ended up liking this book.
Thanks for reading 🙂
Oh… I’m surprised you had the chance to pick Ari y Dante randomly, that book had so much hype at the time I bought it that i never had the chance to not care (i expected to love it, because it have latinX people and, i though, was about friendship between people).
The Assassin’s Blade seems like a great book. 🙂

Yeah it was up for free on Riveted and I’d seen it around a lot and decided one night to read it. I totally loved it though and can’t wait for the sequel.
