Book-Con Envy

Hello and happy Friday!

Today I’m gonna be talking about my jealousy towards other book nerds, who, this past weekend were living their best lives in New York City at BEA & Bookcon 🙂

I know, objectively, that jealousy isn’t exactly the best emotion but I’m a 16 year old girl so I’ve still got another couple of years of irrational envy towards others ingrained in me and I plan on exploiting that for blog content.

And I did research for this! The past few days I have spent my time watching and reading peoples bookhauls from the events and everything. (Which I totally enjoyed every second of watching/reading but lets pretend I put some hard effort in)

In all serious though I do love watching people’s BEA hauls and vlogs of them having a grand old time but that doesn’t mean I’m not sat at home at 4pm in my pyjamas wishing I was there too. So I’m gonna talk about some ARCs I’ve seen floating around from the convention that I wish, I too, could get my hands on 🙂

Slay by Brittney Morris. I hadn’t heard of this before all of my “investigating” but now I am dying to read it. This is pegged as Ready Player One meets The Hate U Give. It follows Kiera who creates a Black Panther–inspired video game with players worldwide, but everything gets a bit complicated when someone is murdered and the game is labelled a racist, exclusionist, violent hub for thugs and criminals. This sounds so good and it’s definitely on my radar now!

Publication Date: September 24th 2019

The Gravity of Us by Phil Stamper. I barely know anything about this but I love this cover! It’s an LGBT romance where one of them has loads of online followers and they connect over some sort of space travel aspect? I don’t know but I’m very interested.

Publication Date: February 4th 2020

Unpregnant by Jenni Hendriks & Ted Caplan. This book follows a teenage girl who discovers that she is pregnant after her dickwad of a boyfriend messes with the condoms. And so not trusting anyone else she asks her ex-boyfriend to drive with her to legally get an abortion. I want this book!

Beyond the Black Door by A.M Strickland. ASEXUAL REPRESENTATION IN A FANTASY BOOK! I barely know anything other then this but I am living for this book and I am obviously buying it the minute it’s released.

Publication Date: October 29th 2019

The Tenth Girl by Sara Faring. This is described as a gothic psychological thriller with a haunting twist set in a boarding school. I don’t know, I liked the cover, everyone else seems excited and I need more thrillers in my life.

Publication Date: September 24th 2019

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo. I am so incredibly jealous of everyone who owns this. This sounds like nothing I’ve ever read before and after loving Six of Crows I have high hopes.

Publication Date: October 1st 2019

black-and-white-flowers-tumblr-transparent-12So those are the ARCs I’m very jealous people received last weekend at the numerous bookish conventions. Each of them have such pretty covers that magically match in pairs of three making it look very aesthetically pleasing. Thankyou for reading!
