Hello and welcome to my blog!
So far this year my reading is going really well. I’ve somehow managed to read 47 books this year while also keeping up with school work. I’m very proud of this.
Absolutely everybody has been doing the Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag recently and of course I’m jumping on that bandwagon too. This tag looks really fun and I’m excited to look back at what I’ve read.
🌟Best Book You’ve Read So Far In 2019🌟
I genuinely did try to pick something different for this question but this really has been the best book I’ve read so far this year. It was funny yet also emotional with a nice amount of political commentary that I enjoyed. I’ve had to stop myself from re-reading this multiple times. It definitely deserves the hype. My Review.
🌟Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2019 🌟
To be honest I’ve barely read any sequels this year. I really need to get on that. But definitely out of the few that I’ve read my favourite was Crooked Kingdom. I’m annoyed it took me so long to read this series and I’m dying for new content from these characters. My Review
🌟New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Want To🌟
I have 2 for this and those are Red Scrolls of Magic and Sorcery of Thorns. I love Alec Lightwood and I love magic libraries. I’m dying to read both of these and hopefully I’ll get to them soon when I finally treat myself to some new books.
🌟Most Anticipated Release For The Second Half of the Year🌟
I did a whole post on my anticipated releases for the rest of the year but the one I would most definitely sell my soul for is Call Down the Hawk. I read tiny snippets online and was ready to die. I’m so excited to see my boys Ronan and Adam again 😭
🌟Biggest Disappointment🌟
I’ve been disappointed by quite a few books this year but probably the one that hit me the hardest was Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I had high hopes for this but ended up giving it 3 stars. Levi was cute but I just didn’t click with the other characters or the story as much as everybody else seemed too. My Review
🌟Biggest Surprise🌟
I was not expecting to enjoy this as much as I did considering the fact that this books two main themes are romance and country music, two things I’m not a huge fan of by oh my word I loved this book! My Review
🌟Favourite New (to me) Author🌟
Without a doubt Jenn Bennet. I’ve read 2 books by her: Starry Eyes and Night Owls (also known as The Anatomical Shape of a Heart). I love her romances and her characters.
🌟Newest Fictional Crush🌟
I have 3. Please don’t judge me. 😭
- Princess Jasmine from the Aladdin movie. How could anybody not love her?
- Lennon from Starry Eyes. I can’t even remember why I loved him but I do.
- Lewis Capaldi. No he’s not fictional but I wanted to give him a shout out anyways because I’ve been binging his interviews on YouTube and I’m in love.
🌟Newest Favourite Character🌟
I absolutely loved Nita. She’s such an interesting character and I’m looking forward to following her story in the next two books.
🌟Book That Made You Cry🌟
I sobbed for the first few chapters of this book. And then I’m pretty sure I sobbed some more near the end. This book was just a rollercoaster of emotions and my little heart couldn’t take it. My Review
🌟Book That Made You Happy🌟
This was a short story but I enjoyed every single second of it. I read this during a hellish time full of exams and I had one night off so I decided to read this. It was a super quick read but left me grinning ear to ear once I was done.
🌟Favourite Book to Film Adaptation🌟
I have only watched 2 book to film adaptations: The Umbrella Academy and After.
- The Umbrella Academy I loved. I would die for Klaus and Five and I’m dying for season 2.
- After I got dragged to see and you know what I had a good time. I couldn’t make it 100 pages through the book but I let loose a little and enjoyed the movie. The cinema was packed with fellow teenage girls who squealed, gasped and clapped at the barest eye contact. I was in the back stuffing my face and laughing my arse off. I’d consider watching the sequel.
🌟Favourite Post You Have You Have Done This Year🌟
To be honest I regret every post the moment it’s published but I did really enjoy my post: Bookish Things I’ve Changed My Mind About. Mainly because it included a gif of a dog with really long ears that makes me go “aww” every time. I recommend reading it just for that.
🌟Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought This Year🌟
In person this book is so pretty. I got this when I went to England at the beginning of the year. I dragged my poor dad, who I hadn’t seen in a year, into the holy land that is Waterstones and made him walk around for about 45 minutes while I just gasped at all the pretty books. (And somehow out of his 3 kids I’m the normal one?)
🌟What Book Do You Need to Read by the End of the Year🌟
All of them but most especially Call Down the Hawk, Red Scrolls of Magic, A Gathering of Shadows.
I like how I say I want to read 2 books that I don’t even own yet when I have so many others on my shelf. Why am I like this?
I was right this tag was very fun. Thankyou so much for reading 😋

I feel like Call Down the Hawk is being overshadowed by other fall releases (ie, Ninth House and The Starless Sea). Thanks for highlighting it; I’m really excited for it, too. 🙂
