My Reading Rush TBR (failure is imminent)

Hi, hey, hello, welcome to my blog and Happy Reading Rush Week!!!

I am late, very late, with this TBR, but it took me a while to decide if I was going to take part in the readathon and if I was going to share my TBR beforehand. But I figured why not. I’ve wanted to participate in a readathon for a while now, even including it on a recent post about nerd experiences, and I have literally nothing going on right now so it’s the perfect time.

The Reading Rush, previously known as Booktube-a-ton, runs from the 22nd (today) till the 28th of July. They also created a website this year to add each other, get badges and track your process. My profile is here if anyone wants to see how badly I’m probably failing 🙂

Challenges

  1. Read a book with purple on the cover
  2. Read a book in the same spot the entire time
  3. Read a book you meant to read last year
  4. Read an author’s first book
  5. Read a book with a non-human main character
  6. Pick a book that has five or more words in the title
  7. Read and watch a book to movie adaptation

I’m going to talk about what books I’m hoping to read this week and which challenges they correlate to. I’m not aiming to read 7 books but I do want to get to as many as possible.

Ghosts of the Shadow Market by Cassandra Clare & Friends

This book is huge and I’m cheating because I don’t want to read this whole thing however I do want to get to the last two novellas which weren’t previously released via e-book due to Queen of Air and Darkness spoilers. This book fits for the challenges:

  • Read a book with purple on the cover – there’s no solid purples but there’s definitely purple in there somewhere.
  • Read a book with a non-human main character – it follows the silent brother Brother Zachariah which I’m counting as not human.
  • Pick a book that has five or more words in the title– 5 words exactly although I doubt the two novellas themselves are going to be 5 or more.

Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas

I have no idea what this is about but I do know it’s some sort of murder mystery thriller. This fits for the challenges:

  • Read an author’s first book- I believe this is Abigal Haas’ first book. I’ve looked and can’t find anything else of hers published before this.
  • Read a book you meant to read last year– I actually own a physical copy of this book except its in German. I speak English, I speak Spanish but I do not speak German so my plans to read this had to go on hold.

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Manon

28458598.jpg I’m about three years late to the hype train but I’m finally doing it. I have every intention to get to this book at long last this week. It fits the challenges:

  • Read a book you meant to read last year
  • Read an author’s first book

Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Cordova

I’ve been meaning to read this book forever. I’ve missed the hype by a few years again but oh well. This fits for the challenges:

  • Read a book with purple on the cover
  • Read a book with a non human main character- Witches!!!!
  • Read a book you meant to read last year – I was meant to read this last year before Halloween but I didn’t even buy it so I don’t know if it counts.

The Leading Edge of Now by Marci Lyn Curtis

This is an ARC that I seriously need to read. I don’t even know what this book is about anymore, it’s been so long but I do know that I’m excited. Did I imagine this excitement? Maybe. Will I be disappointed? Probably. This fits:

  • Read a book with purple on the cover– there’s purple somewhere in there.
  • Pick a book that has five or more words in the title
  • Read a book you meant to read last year– I’ve been meaning to read this for so long it’s embarrassing.

black-and-white-flowers-tumblr-transparent-12So those are the top 5 books I want to get to this week. One of these is going to also fit the challenge of Read a book in the same spot I just don’t know which one yet. I also don’t have anything that fits the challenge Read and watch a book to movie adaptation however if I have time closer to the end of the week I may try to re-read Simon Vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda and then of course watch Love, Simon.

Good Luck to everyone participating in the Reading Rush! Thank you for reading.
