Hello and welcome to my blog 🙂
So, I was just perusing through Goodreads, minding my own business and wondering if I should go eat my weight in ice-cream because the heat is no joke right now when I saw the cover for my most anticipated release of 2020.
(Yes it’s only July of 2019. Yes I’ve already started a list of anticipated releases for 2020. Don’t judge)
The release in question is none other than: Loveless by Alice Oseman – a book with an Aro-Ace main character!!!!
(Yes the amount of !’s I’m using in this post of are very much necessary)
It’s beautiful. 😭💜🖤💜
Alice Oseman is a highly acclaimed author for her previous novels: Solitaire, Radio Silence and I Was Born For This. She’s also of course the author and illustrator for the much loved Heartstopper graphic novels which are sadly the only thing I have read of hers so far.
Georgia feels loveless – in the romantic sense, anyway. She’s eighteen, never been in a relationship, or even had a crush on a single person in her whole life. She thinks she’s an anomaly, people call her weird, and she feels a little broken. But she still adores romance – weddings, fan fiction, and happily ever afters. She knows she’ll find her person one day … right?
After a disastrous summer, Georgia is now at university, hundreds of miles from home. She is more determined than ever to find love – and her annoying roommate, Rooney, is a bit of a love expert, so perhaps she can help.
But maybe Georgia just doesn’t feel that way about guys. Or girls. Or anyone at all. Maybe that’s okay. Maybe she can find happiness without falling in love. And maybe Rooney is a little more loveless than she first appears.
LOVELESS is a journey of identity, self-acceptance, and finding out how many different types of love there really are. And that no one is really loveless after all.
As if that couldn’t get any better I am 99% sure this is an own-voices novel although there is a chance I’m wrong about that.
This book means so much to me and I haven’t even read it yet. I’m so happy and excited to see more books being published with asexual/aromantic characters and for their story’s to be told.
I will definitely be picking this book as soon as it’s released. Expected Publication is April 2nd 2020 so I have a fair few months to go before getting my hands on this but I am over the moon and cannot wait.
