The “Get to Know Me” Book Tag // My 1 Year Blogger-versary!!!

Hi, hello and welcome to my blog!

Today is a day of celebration. It’s been a whole year since I started this blog.

It’s my bloggerversary and I’m probably spelling that extremely wrong but I feel like terrible spelling is a staple of my blogposts. To celebrate it being a year of me being annoying as hell I decided to do the “Get to know me” Book Tag because in the beginning I never really talked about myself because anxiety 🙂

A little bit about me

My names Elli. I’m 17 and originally from East Yorkshire with the accent to prove it but I’ve been living in Spain since I was ten (although I do not have the tan to prove that). This September I start the Spanish equivalent of 6th form and I am shitting myself.

I have three siblings, two brothers and a sister, all younger, two of which live back in the UK. I also have three pets who I would die for: Fudge, Poppet and Kit-Kat.

And now that you’ve been blessed with these incredible and majestic photos let’s jump into the tag:

🌻Favourite colour and do you have a book in that colour?🌻

I’m a huge fan of purple in all it’s shades (and I was going to say sizes until I realised that colours don’t have sizes. Duh) but I actually don’t have any books that colour besides my UK copy of Deathly Hallows and the spine of A Ladies Guide to Petticoats & Piracy by Mckenzie Lee.

🌻Describe yourself in 3 book characters🌻

  • Raphael Santiago (The Shadowhunter Chronicles)- He is lowkey my spirit animal.
  • Cath Avery (Fangirl)- I see so much of myself in Catch and to be honest that’s probably why I don’t like her. She’s a writer, obsessed with magical stories, an anxious mess. Same.
  • Daisy Winters (Prince Charming)- I relate to Daisy in a different way to how I relate to Cath, I see the good bits of myself in her like sense of humour and I also died my hair bright mermaid red a few years back

🌻Hyper books – Yay or Nay? If, Yay what was the most hyped book you ever read? If Nay, what was the most hyped book you decided not to read?🌻

Yay all the way. The most hyped book/series I’ve read (because of the hype) probably has to be Six of Crows or Throne of Glass. Sometimes the hype scares me though which is why it took forever to read Six of Crows and why I still haven’t finished Throne of Glass.

🌻Recommend one book per season🌻

  • Spring:  You’d Be Mine by Erin Hahn
  • Summer:  100 Days of Sunlight by Abbie Emmons
  • Autumn:  Vicious by V.E Scwab
  • Winter:  Not Even Bones by Rebecca Schaueffer

🌻Name a book that wrecked you emotionally🌻

The Way I Used to Be by Amber Smith orAristotle and Dante Discover the Secretes of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz.

These books messed me up in different way. With Ari and Dante I was sobbing in my bed at two in the morning. With The Way I Used to Be I just felt so many emotions.

Also, I’ve been re-reading a few of the Harry Potter Books recently and I keep getting really emotional at just the most basic and random moments.

🌻Name a book that you always reccomend🌻

35817737

My go to recommendation is The Exact Opposite of Okay by Laura Steven. It’s hilarious and witty with great social commentary on a very important topic of revenge porn and the double standards of teenage girls and boy. Go and read because it’s amazing.

🌻What book would you recommend with tea and cookies/biscuits?🌻

40512862

I feel like City of Ghosts  by Victoria Schwab would be a good one. It’s got a real autumn feel to it, and the whole setting of ghosts in Edinburgh paired with the amazingness of Schwabs writing would go great with a nice hot mug of tea and a few custard creams.

🌻What is your guilty pleasure book🌻

51ODK6cXNoL._SX311_BO1,204,203,200_

The Ghost Files series by Apryl Baker. These books are a total cheese fest with a main character who, although she can see ghosts, is totally average in all ways and yet has like a billion very good looking boys running after her.

Besides all of this I was so invested in this series, I’ve read all this first series but there’s another series following the same character and I’m planning on getting  to it soon.

🌻 Favourite dessert and a book that reminds you of that dessert? 🌻

untitled

Ice-cream is by far the best thing in the entire world and a book that reminds me of that amazingness is probably Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston.

It’s sweet, perfect for summer and I couldn’t get enough of it.

Ice-cream can also be painful. Brain freeze is no joke and I feel like this book packed a killer emotional punch too. (I may be slightly over exaggerating)

🌻Are you a procrastinator? If so what book have you been procrastinating reading?🌻

29845906

Literally every book on my shelf but mainly Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. It’s such a big book and the only other book by I’ve read by Kristoff was Illuminae … which I hated. Definitely procrastinating this big time.

So there we go. Thank you for reading and for the support this blog has had during the past year, I’m looking forward to talking about books and making terrible and cringey spelling errors for another year.

  1. Happy Blog anniversary! This seems like a fun tag to do, I might do it soon.

Nevernight is completely different from Iluminae, though since I love both I can’t really say if that’s a good thing for you or not, but you should def give it a try especially since the last book is about to be published (and I’m thinking of rereading it soon too).
