Hello and happy Thursday and welcome to my blog 🙂
Today I come to you with the Back to School Book Tag because as I’ve mentioned in literally every one of this weeks posts I am back at school!
This week has been my first week of college and it’s had its highs and it’s lows featuring numerous stress headaches just two days in but, as I sit here writing this, today went quite well. We’re officially getting into classes and I’ve been socialising more with friends which feels nice. That’s an incredibly sad thing to say but I’m usually the girl sat at the back all by myself because I get too anxious and nervous, so actually joking around with people has been fun.
This is my schedule for the year so not too bad although I am forever pissed that I have P.E first hour on a bloody Friday. Exercise at 8:30 in the morning! I genuinely can’t think of anything worse.
English- Name your favourite authors writing style.
For this first question I’ve chosen Laura Steven. I’ve only read the The Exact Opposite of Okay duology from her so far but I absolutely loved the writing style. It was hilarious, witty and so easy to read.
Math- A book that made you frustrates
A book, or should I say series, that definitely frustrates me has to be The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. Listen I’m not about to bash on this series because I am trash for these characters and I own nearly all the series but god. Decisions were made in TMI that annoyed me and it was so unnecessary and I just wanted to scream: “communicate! teamwork!! put me out of my misery and use your brain!!!”
(Also, so glad I don’t have to do maths this year)
Science- A book that really made you think or question things.
There are many books that make me question things either in a life crisis sort of way or simply because I wasnt paying attention and missed a vital plot point but probably my most recent thought provoking read was Becoming by Michelle Obama. As I read about her life it really made me think about a whole lot of different stuff and I really enjoyed that.
History- Your favourite book from a different time.
I don’t read much Historical fiction even though I do want to but I really enjoyed The Diviners by Libba Bray. I really enjoyed the 1920’s atmosphere mixed with the magical/paranormal elements. I plan on continuing on with the series … eventually.
Art- Your book favourite with pictures.
A really great and underrated book is You’re Welcome, Universe by Whitney Gardner. This follows a deaf girl who does street art but some mysterious person keeps adding onto her artwork. These graffiti works are shown in the books and they’re all really sweet and I feel like a re-read is in order just to see the drawing again.
I don’t know if this counts as a book with pictures but oh well.
Drama- A book you would love to see turned into a movie.
Not a movie but I’d love to see the Heartstopper Graphic Novels by Alice Oseman be turned into a tv series. Nick and Charlie are really cute, its set in UK schools which I want to see more of and it handles serious topics too. I think this would make a great show.
Music/Band- A character with a similar music taste to you.
I have no clue. Genuinely. My playlist is just a Hodge podge of random songs that have no relation in genre or anything like that.
Lunch- A food from a book you would love to try.
Again I have no idea. I feel like I barely ever read books featuring food? I’ve heard With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo features lots of food and also follows a teen mum so I’m interested in reading that.
Bus Ride Home- A book or author that is relaxing.
So this past Saturday I was starting to get those super fun anxious feelings about school when I got in bed and so I thought reading might help me ignore that and it did! I picked up The Crane Diaries: Homecoming by Apryl Baker. This is the beginning to the sequel series of The Ghost Files which follows a girl who can see ghosts.
Its a weird book to find relaxing but I stayed up till 4AM and read the whole thing and I wasnt worrying so I say it worked.
Extra Credit- A book someone recommended that you enjoyed.
I never get recommended books because I don’t really have any reader friends but I did get a “gentle push” from online friends to finally read Crooked Kingdoms by Leigh Bardugo and I’m so glad I did.
Although I only have 2 of the classes mentioned in this book tag I had a fun time doing this tag. Thank you for reading 🙂
