❄The Joy of Christmas // Book Tag❄

Hi, hey and welcome to my blog 🙂

Its that time people. It’s Christmas book tag time!!!!

I have a weird relationship with Christmas. I loved it as a kid, as most small children do, thenstarted hating on Christmas as I got older just because my dad did and it was fun to mess with mum.

Also Christmas when you get older is stressfull! Leading up to the 25th is, for me, jam packed with exams, and then there’s the whole buying gifts situation and all that. It’s hectic and it’s why my family get drunk on Christmas day which leads to food fights between me and dad.

This year though I’m adiment to get more intouch with the Christmas cheer. I’ve got a list of Christmas movies I want to watch, I’ve been singing Christmas songs and also I’ve decided I’m going to do a Christmas/Holiday themed book tag each week leading up to the Fat Man coming down the metaphorical chimney.

And so today I’m going to be starting of with the Joy of Christmas Book Tag.

Christmas Songs & Carols: What book or author can you not help but sing it’s praises.

I know I’ve talked about this book non-stop since picking it up at the start of the year but I recommended this book to someone a while ago and this past week I got a message saying that they’d read it and loved it and it made me feel so happy inside.

What I’m saying is that the praise for, not only Red White & Royal Blue, but also for Casey McQuiston is real and I can’t wait to read everything by her.

Gingerbread Houses: What book or series has wonderful world building?

It’s not so much worldbuilding but the way the town of Sparrow, where this book is set, is written and described is amazing.

A Christmas Carol: Favourite classic or one that you want to read.

Next term at school we’re reading Oliver Twist and I’m really looking forward to it. I was actually in my primary schools production of Oliver Twist. I was Charlotte and also Man N* 2. I had about five lines in total but the songs were absolute Bops.

Christmas Sweets: What book would you love to receive for Christmas

The Goblet of Fire Illustrated Edition. These books are beautiful … but also expensive as hell so I’m hoping Father Christmas is kind to me this year.

Candles in the Window: What book gives you that warm fuzzy feeling?

A classic but a goody. Reading any book in this series makes me all happy. I love the characters so much. I’m currently reading Call Down the Hawk (yes still. Exams are killing me. I have no time. I’m sad) and I’m loving being back in that word.

Christmas Tree & Decorations: What are some of your favourite book covers?

Christmas Joy: What are some of your favourite things about Christmas? What are your favourite Christmas memories?

My favourite thing about Christmas is how happy and excited my mum gets. She’s genuinly like a five year old. Also the fact that Christmas = special occasion cake. I really like cake.

Some of my favourite Christmas related memories include:

  • Mum waking me and my brother up at 5am one Christmas. We must have been about 8 and 4 at the time and yet she was the one waking us up.
  • Last year me and dad started a vegetable food fight that originated with us throwing sprouts at each other over the table.
  • Getting Imagine Dragons concert tickets.
  • My first Christmas in Spain. It was a big deal because we’d only been living here for 3 months and so to distract us from being sad mum and dad took us to the crocodile park and we held baby crocs as you can see in the photo above. Then we opened the bar that we had at the time and had a great night.

So there we go, my first festive book tag of the season. I’m currently studying for my Literature exam so this has been a fun time. Has anyone got any Christmas movie recommendations for me to help get me in the mood? Thanks for reading!

Elli xx
