IHi, hey, hello and Merry Christmas!!!
I am officially done with exams for this term, I’m just waiting on my final grades which come tomorrow which means I am now in full Christmas mode.
My mum made the foolish decision to keep the boxes of chocolates, reserved solely for Christmas, in my room and forgive me mother for I have sinned but I’ve been dipping into them … and hiding the evidence in my school bag.
Christmas needs to hurry up and arrive before I steal anymore and there’s none left come Christmas eve when we’re finally aloud to eat them. If she finds out I don’t think I’ll survive through to the new year.
Anyways I’m doing the 12 days of Christmas book tag even though, yes, there is now only one week left to go. Maybe I should ask for the gift of time management for Christmas.
❄On the first day of Christmas, my true love game to me: a partridge in a pear tree❄
The Partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favourite stand alone?
I don’t know if this is necessarily my favourite stand alone but its the first stand alone I had ever really read and it’s one of the books that helped convince me I could and would like things outside just popular urban fantasy and for that it holds a special place in my heart.
❄On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: two turtle doves❄
Love is in the air! Who is your one true pairing.
I hate questions like this because I can never decide! I have to many ships and I refuse to rate and rank so I’ve decided whenever this question appears I’m instead going to talk about whichever OTP comes to mind or whoever I’m currently obsessed over.
Right now I’m obsessed with Nadia and Guzman from the Netflix series Elite. I’ve been binge-watching this show and oh my god it’s so good. I never planned on getting so invested, I started it so I could talk about it with my Spanish friends at school but I was hooked from the get go and it wasn’t long until I was shipping these two.
❄On the third day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: three French hens❄
In spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have read.
I talk about this series too much but I’m not even sorry.
❄On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: four calling birds❄
Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favourite series?
My favourite series consisting of four or more books, excluding Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, would probably have to be The Naturals series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, another I read when I was getting into reading and one I’ve re-read a few times at this point or The Raven Cycle which I just love.
❄On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: five golden rings❄
One ring to rule them all! Who is your favourite villain/antagonist?
Everyone else always has really great answers for this question but I’m always left ??? Last time I said Void Stiles from Teen Wolf and I’m tired and unoriginal so I’m sticking with that.
❄On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: six geese a laying❄
Creation is beautiful. What is your favourite world/world building?
I wish I existed in this universe where Donald Trump is not the president and I highly doubt Boris Johnson is the Prime Minister.
❄On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: seven swans a swimming❄
Who needs seven swans when all it takes is one good animal sidekick? Who’s your favourite animal sidekick?
Not an animal (i don’t think). Might not even be a sidekick, I don’t know I haven’t watched the series yet. I just really wanted the excuse to include a gif of baby Yoda who has become the sole reason I get out of bed in the morning.
❄On the eight day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: eight maids a milking❄
Milk is so 18th century. Which book or series takes beverages/food to a whole new level?
Skipping because I have no clue :))))
❄On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: nine ladies dancing❄
Dancing is just one skill of a lady! Who is your favourite kickass female lead?
Izzy O’Neil isn’t kickass in the traditional sense of beatings and all that fun stuff but she could verbally chastise and insult you until you were wishing for death which I think is pretty badass. Also I love her so …
❄On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: ten lords a leaping❄
How about your favourite leading lad?
Maybe I’m just in need of a Six of Crows re-read but you have to admit Kaz Brekker is such a good character!
❄On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: eleven pipes piping❄
What is your favourite book or bookish thing with musical influence? (It can be about music, reference music a lot, etc)
I like how books sometimes have song lyrics for titles, intentionally or unintentionally I don’t know, but I always start singing the titles in the key of the song I’m thinking of. Every. Single. Time.
❄On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: 12 drummers drumming❄
Drum roll please … what is your favourite read of this year?
I still haven’t given it too much thought but off the bat its probably a toss up between these two books which I loved with all my heart and would recommend in an instant.
So there we go. If I ever have to type out the words “On the — day of Christmas, my true love gave to me”, a sentence I’ve written wrong every single time, then it’ll be too soon.
Thank you for reading and once again happy holidays!
