Beating the big books // January TBR

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog 🙂

It’s time to set in stone a list of books I promise to read this month … and then inevitably don’t. Just kidding.

So today I’m talking about my January TBR and I wasn’t originally planning on having a TBR this month but I have a list worked out in my head that I’m pretty happy with so why not share it.

I don’t like big books and I cannot lie

I finished Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo the other week and was infused with the sense of “yeah, I can read big adult books” and so although that feeling is fading as th days pass I’m sticking to it and I’ve got two previously intimidating books here on this TBR.

Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. I’m actually currently reading this. I’m like 30 pages in so I don’t have much of an opinion yet. I’m finding it hard to get into but I think once I get going and grasp the flow of the writing style I might really enjoy this. If I want to get to the rest of my tbr I need to hurry up and make progress though.

Renegades by Marissa Meyer. I can’t decide how I’m going to feel about this book. I’ve seen some people hate it but I’ve seen some people love it. I like anything and everything superhero related so I have hope.

I hate my Universal Literature Class

Bit harsh but it’s the only class I failed last term. I only failed by one point and I swear she failed me because she has my younger brother in a different class and she doesn’t like him but still.

The first book we’re reading this term is going to be Oliver Twist and I told my self I’d start reading it in the holidays … and then I didn’t. Although I’ve never read the book I have watched the movie a few times and I was actually in my primary school play (I had about 5 lines in total) so I suppose there’s worse books to be forced to read but I’m reading it in Spanish and I never realised how long this book is!

An Arc. I don’t know which one yet.

I havent got far enough into my planning to decide which ARC I’m going to read but I am hoping to get to at least one. I want to make it a priority to read one ARC a month at the very least. I have a few I can choose from so I’ll see what I’m feeling.

A random but a goodie

Last night I picked up Here Lies Daniel Tate by Cristin Terrill and I read 70 pages. I’m liking it so far, it feels like it’s going to be intriguing and suspenseful and I’m liking the writng style so far.

Getting ready for my travelling.

I go to Italy in less then 3 months and I’m starting my pre-travel prep now by reading one of the three books I got for Christmas. This month I plan on staring off with Wanderlost by Jen Malone. I think reading this will be a nice change of pace compared to all the other books I plan on reading this month and I’m really looking forward to it.

So those are the six books I plan on reading this month. I have three weeks to accomplish this so I probably won’t get to all of them but I would really like to. I doubt this first week of school is going to be totally crazy so there’s hope.

Has anyone read any of these books? I’d love to know your thoughts an opinions, thank you for reading.

Elli xx
