Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog!
Today I’m talking Anticipated Releases. I’m doing things a bit different this year. Last year I felt I missed out on a lot of releases because they weren’t announced yet so I figured I’d do these tri monthly. Is that a thing? Well it’s a thing now.
On this list is a mix of books I’m dying to read but there are others I don’t know much about but am interested in checking out. This is another reason I wanted to do these in 4 parts throughout the year so I can talk about more books that I’ve caught my eye. Also I’m not mentioning any sequels in this post because that’s it’s own separate thing.
Anyways let’s jump right in 🙂
January
Jane Anonymous by Laurie Faria Stolarz
I’ve seen a few mixed reviews here and there but it has a good Goodreads rating and I’m still wanting to read this. This book follows a girl who was kidnapped and it’s a story of her dealing with the trauma of that and the struggle to integrate back into normal life. It sounds like something I’d really like, if done well.
Publication Date: January 7th
Every Other Weekend by Abigail Johnson.
Ok so I don’t know much about this book besides the fact that it has a beautiful cover. Basically it follows two characters: Adam, who’s picture perfect life crumbles after his brothers death, and Jolene who’s divorced parents are at each others throats and she’s stuck in the middle, and every other weekend they’re at the same apartment building nd I’m guessing they meet and a sweet romance ensues.
Publication Date: January 7th
Tweet Cute by Emma Lord
Yes I’ve read this. Yes I loved it. No I won’t stop talking about it. Tweet Cute is on this list because although, like I said, I’ve read this, I need a physical copy, I may even re-read it this year. This book features: a grilled cheese twitter war, baking, an adorable “enemies” to friends to lovers romance, MATURE AND LIKEABLE CHARACTERS WITH NO UNNECCESARY ANGST OR DRAMA! Please read this.
Publication Date: January 21st
February
The Gravity of Us by Phil Stamper
Another beautiful cover and another I don’t much about besides it being a m/m romance between two boys whose parents, I believe, are astronauts or something like that. I don’t know if this is contemporary with science elements or sci-fi with contemporary elements but this already has a lot of buzz around it and I’m excited.
Publication Date: February 4th
What Kind of Girl by Alyssa B. Sheinmel
I want to read more “serious” contemporaries this year that make me think and feel and What Kind of Girl definitely sounds like it fits this bill. This book is about a girl who shows up to school bruised and claims her boyfriend hit her. This book is pegged as Girl in Pieces meets Moxie, two books I’ve never read but have heard great things and want to read. I think this could be a very powerful book about domestic abuse and I’m looking forward to reading it.
Publication Date: February 4th
Of Curses and Kisses by Sandhya Menon
I wasn’t a huge fan of Menons other work When Dimple Met Rishi but this a fantasy Beauty of the Beast retelling set in a boarding school and so I’m cautiously optimistic this could be something fun and something different. I think this may be a case of waiting to see other peoples reviews and opinions beforehand but it does sound cool.
Publication Date: February 18th
The Upside of Falling by Alex Light
As much as I want to read nitty-gritty contemporaries I want to read more cute and fluffy too and this seems perfect. It’s about a girl who pretends she has a boyfriend to get her friend off her back and the popular boy, whose always been to busy to date, overhears this and steps in as said “pretend boyfriend”. It reminds me of “To All the Boys I Love” and I think it’s going to be cute.
Publication Date: February 18th
The Sound of Stars by Alechia Dow
I literally found out about this book this morning but I read the line “Can a girl who risks her life for books and an alien who loves forbidden pop music work together to save humanity?” and I was SOLD! Although I know next to nothing about this I really hope I love this.
Also this cover is amazing
Publication Date: February 25th
March
Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare
I’m going to need to re-read The Infernal Devices before beginning this series and I am definitely going to need some sort of family tree next to me while I ead but I don’t mind because this series means the possibility of more Will Herondale and I 100% need that in my life.
Publication Date: March 3rd
The Love Hypothesis by Laura Steven
I’ve read 2 books by Laura Steven but I have decided to read everything by her ever because her stories are witty and fun and I follow her on Instagram and she’s having a baby and I just love her. Anyways this book is about a high school genius who’s never been able to master the skill of love and so she creates something that makes her irresistible. As if that’s not cool enough the main character, Caro, is LGBT+ and there’s another dog named after a Harry Potter character!!!
Publication Date: March 5th
It seems like February is going to be an expensive book buying month if I’m still dying to read those books by then so that should be fun.
Is anybody else interested in any of these? Are there any more releases I should keep my eyes out for because I’d love to know. Thanks for reading 🙂
I’m super excited for The Gravity of Us, too!
