Blog, book haul

Sooo … I went on an e-book buying binge. Please stop me.

Hi, hey hello and welcome to my blog.

So I’ve been getting decent tips at work recently and it’s awesome. Extra money is always awesome. However, instead of being responsible and saving it for things like: my trips to Italy and England in the coming months, my Uni fund, etc. I went on a mini book binge and bought four E-books.

“Binge” may be a bit of an overstatement since it’s only 4 but still, its 4 new books which I really didn’t need added to an already exceptionally long tbr list. Why am I like this?

Good prices and tiniest bit of interest is going to be my downfall one of these days but for now let’s talk about what I bought.

Slay by Brittney Morris

Slay is probably the only book out of this mini haul that I genuinely had a strong interest in and really wanted to read. I don’t know much about this book besides that it came out last year and follows a girl named Kiera who is the secrete creator of this wildly popular video game however when somebody is murdered over a dispute in the game things start to spiral out of control.

I don’t think I’ll have time to get to this in February but I am hoping to read this soon.

The Black Veins by Ashia Monet

I’ve actually already read this book which does make me feel better about my unnecessary purchases. In this book there are magicians and when a war starts to brew between two magical governments, the ancient Black Veins and the newly established Trident Republic, seventeen year old Blythe Fulton gets caught in the middle when her family are kidnapped.

This book was pretty meh for me. I gave it three stars.  I thought the world and the magic system could have been explained better and the plot was a bit all over the place but I really enjoyed the characters and the humour and the representation! There’s a nonbinary purple haired character called Jamie and multiple bisexual characters. Also a transgender ghost. I’m considering doing a mini review for this but I haven’t decided yet.

What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera

I genuinly don’t know why I bought this. Probably because it was only 1.50€.

I’ve read Simon VS. by Becky Albertalli and loved it, and I’ve also read History is all You Left Me by Adam Silver which …. yeah not a fan.

This is about two boys who keep meeting by chance and they eventually fall in love. I think. I don’t know. I’ve seen not very good reviews about this and although I’ll go in with an open mind I am looking forward to seeing if what other people say is true.

Sometimes  like reading bad books for the fun of it. For the lols.

The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman

I know nothing about this book. I looked up the synopsis and its goodreads rating before pressing Buy (the only slight moment of hesitation I had throughout this wild five minute shopping spree) but it’s been a days and now I remember nothing.

I’m gonna take a wild guess and say it’s about someone called Nina Hill who possibly really like books. Am I getting warmer? I’m also pretty sure this is New Adult.

Either way the cover is sweet, the title is sweet and I hope the insides are too.

Like I said e-book sales, the tiniest bit of recognition or interest and me feeling like I have extra money to spare really is going to kick me in the arse sooner or later but for now I suppose I’ll just enjoy my new additions.

I’d really love to know your opinion on these books if you read them. I especially wanna hear more thoughts on What If It’s Us. Did ya love it, did ya hate it? Let me know. Thanks for reading 🙂
