Authors A-Z: A-B-C-D-E // Top 5 Tuesday

aaaa

Hi, hey, hello and happy Tuesday!

I am so excited for this months round of Top 5 Tuesday topics going through the alphabet and talking all about authors. I’m sure I’m going to be as uncreative as possible but I’m looking forward to talking about some of my faves.

I’ve decided to use authors first names as I go through the alphabet this month just because. I have literally no reasoning behind this decision.

Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Shannah @ Bionic Book Worm.

Alice Oseman

Heartstopper is the cutest thing in the world. I originally started following it online but then school made it hard to keep up with but of course I got the physical editions as they were released. I read these graphic novels in times of great stress and anxious outbursts.

Solitaire I read last year and was pretty disappointed. I can’t even pinpoint what exactly I wasn’t a fan of it just didn’t click with me. I am still holding out hope that I love Osemans written work as much as her graphic novels. The next book of hers I plan to read and hope to love is Loveless coming out in the coming months. Like I said I’m really hoping I love this book because I do want to be a fan, her books are popular and I follow Alice on tumblr and she seems really cool.

Becky Albertalli

A possibly unpopular opinion here but I’m not a huge fan of Becky Albertalli. Don’t get me wrong I loved Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda. I read it in one day, I was reading it between classes and everything, but sadly nothing else by Albertalli has caught my interest.

Speaking about Simon vs but going completely off topic, I found out the other day that Disney were making a series based off the book and movie, but then I heard that had been cancelled because … ya know, Disney don’t think the gays are family friendly. Does anyone know about this because I was super excited for like a week before it was taken away from me.

Casey McQuiston

untitled

I’ve decided to sell my soul to this woman after reading her debut, the amazing, the fantastic, the marvellous, the never done before: Red, White, and Royal Blue.

I really don’t know what more I can say besides that. Her next book, One Last Stop, is expected to be published next year and the premise, according to Goodreads, is: a queer spin on Kate & Leopold.

I had no idea what that was but apparently it’s a movie about a Duke from the 1800s travelling through time to the future and meeting a modern woman and I’m guessing they fall in love as they try to get him back to his time period.

So its that … but with lesbians. Give me the book and I will give you all my money. Please and thankyou.

Donna Tartt

I have never read a book by this woman and that needs fixing. ASAP.

I don’t what her books are classed as. Dark Academia? Literary Fiction? Whatever they are I’ve heard great things and I want to experience those great things for myself which is why I recently bought The Secrete History and plan to read it this month. Obviously if I love it as much as I think I’m going to I want to read The Goldfinch before the end of the year.

Erin Hahn

I genuinely believe Erin Hahn is going to become one of my favourite Contemporary Authors. So far I’ve only read You’d Be Mine so I can’t say for sure yet but I really loved that book way more then I ever expected too.

I actually have an ARC for her upcoming release More Than Maybe and I read the first chapter the other day thinking this book comes out in March. It doesn’t. It comes out in May. And so now my predicament is: do I read my ARC so many months before release and schedule my review or do I try and practice some self restraint and wait?

(I’m thinking I’m probably going to end up reading it sooner rather than later)

And so there we go. Authors from A-E. I’ve had a lot of fun with this weeks list. I can’t wait to read who everyone else chose. Thanks for reading 🙂
