Blog, book haul

I bought these ages ago // Book Haul

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog!

Its time for a book haul baby! So I was stressed a couple of weeks ago (read: two months ago 😂)  and bought a bunch of books … and then my mum wanted to split the package cost for something so I bought some more, and I’m going to talk about them today.

I’m actually quiet glad I did go ahead and buy a bunch of books before everything kicked off, even if at the time I did feel guilty about adding to my physical TBR, because there’s a chance I’m on lockdown till April 12th so I’m going to need a lot of reading material.

These two books pictured above with the darling devil of my life, my cat, I admittedly shouldn’t have bought. At the time I was still holding out hope I could go to England next month and was meant to be saving my money for that.

Ever since reading Becoming by Michelle Obama I’ve been wanting to try more autobiographies but I want to read about people I’m actually interested in and want to learn more about so I have been patiently awaiting the release of Me by Elton John. I’m super into Rockstars and that sort of 80s scene, more so since watching Bohemian Rhapsody, don’t judge me I was born in 20002, I wasn’t around for the real thing, so I am so looking forward to reading this.

Then I surprised myself and got the sequel to Renagades which I read a month or two ago and loved. I’ve heard that Archenemies by Marissa Meyer is as good, if not better then book one so I’m hyped for that but nervous for the final book in the trilogy which has been described by multiple people as “disappointing”.

Ok so this was my original book haul that I waited nearly a month to post because I’m a mess of human 😀 I’ve read 2 of these already.

So I finally decided to catch up on the Heartstopper graphic novels by Alice Oseman by purchasing Volumes 2 and 3. These are the only graphic novels I actually own because they’re expensive and I’m not that financially stable yet because I’m literally 17 but I can make an expection when it comes to these because they’re so cute. I’ve already read Volume 2 and loved it, of course. I was nervous even though I know what happens because I read that part of the online comic. Volume 3 shall be getting read soon.

Then we have The Secret History by Donna Tart which was one on the list for me to read more Dark Academia. I have read this and … it was a weird one. I liked it but on and off. I do still want to read more Dark Academia and more Donna Tart though.

I don’t know anything about A Good Girls Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson besides that it may or may not feature a good girl and a murder.  I got this because I like a good YA mystery/thriller and I like to go into some books knowing nothing. I’m hoping this will be good but at the minute I have no expectations.

And finally the last book that I bought was The Guinevere Deception by Kierstan White. I am a huge fan of the Merlin/Arthur tale which is what this book is based on. My dad just got us Netflix when he found out our lockdown was being extended for another 2 weeks and I’m really considering re-watching Merlin especially since I never watched the final 2 seasons because I know how it ends and I don’t want to be sad.  I’ve heard pretty good things about this so far so I’m really excited for it.

So there we go, those are some books I did not buy recently at all which I initially felt guilty about buying but now am so glad to have. I’ve never read so many books in one month before and I am thriving.

I hope you’re all staying safe, thank you for reading.

Elli xx
