Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog!
Today I am doing the Spring has Sprung book tag because even though it hasn’t stopped raining in the last two weeks spring has indeed sprung.
Like almost everyone else I’m not aloud to leave my house right now so the allergies are being kept at bay but it’s only a matter of time before the three months of constant sneezing and watering eyes begin. Yay.
Flowers – All the flowers we remember are blooming again. Pick a book that’s a fresh take on a retelling.
I haven’t read many retellings but I do have a fair few on my TBR including Geekerella by Ashley Poston which I may or may not have bought the e-book of the other night. I don’t know much about this but I know it’s a Cinderella retelling with fandom themes which for a huge nerd like me seems like a fun time. I also know it features a food truck called the Magic Pumpkin which sounds cute!
Cadbury Mini Eggs- Obviously the superior springtime chocolate of choice. Pick a book that you consider to be a sweet treat.
First of all: big fat yesss to Mini Eggs being the best!!!
Less a book more of an author but I really love Jenn Bennetts contemporary novels. They’re such easy reads, the main characters all have something unique about them and even with all the cutness and fluffiness there’s more things at play. I’m currently readin Seriously Moonlight and loving it!
Allergies- Seasonal allergies often make your eyes water. Pick a book that made you cry.
I cry a lot when I re-read books for some reason, most notably Harry Potter, because I know what’s to come so even the happy moments have me tearing up.
Spring Cleaning- Out with the old and in with the new. Pick a book to unhaul.
I have a whole stack to be unhauled when I can, ya know, leave the house. That stack includes:
- History is all you left me by Adam Silvera
- Zac & Mia by A.J Betts
- Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
Spring Break: It’s the perfect time for an adventure. Pick a book involving a road trip.
Does a tour around America count as a road trip because if it does then I’m going with You’d Be Mine by Erin Hahn which follows Anne Mathers as she agrees to join the tour of superstar, teen heart-throb Clay Coolidge.
Mating Season- Its that time of year in the animal kingdom to make babies. Pick a book with some smutty delights.
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff had some pretty steamy moments between two characters that I loved.
Rainbows- I feel like spring is made of freaking rainbows. Pick a book featuring an LGBTQ+ characters.
The Devouring Grey by Christine Lynn Herman has not one but two bisexual characters who were definitely my favourite out of the whole cast and who may, possibly have feelings for each other and I ship it so bad!
Also I read Volume 3 of Heartstopper by Alice Oseman the other night and there’s so many LGBT+ characters it’s basically a rainbow in graphic novel form and I love it.
Spring Awakening- This is one of my all-time favourite musicals even though it’s filled with completely dysfunctional characters. Pick a book filled with completely dysfunctional characters.
Clearly my go to answer is Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo because those guys have some issues but my other answer is Ninth House also by Leigh Bardugo. This is a pretty messed up book with some equally messed up characters. I think Bardugo has a type.
In like a lion, out like a lamb- Pick a book series that didn’t get better as it progressed.
I haven’t finished the series yet but I really loved book 1 of Trials of the Apollo by Rick Riordan but then books 2 and 3 really weren’t as good and oh my god the third book was emotionally traumatic! I haven’t read the fourth book yet so we’ll see if the last two books can redeem it for me.
So there we go. I really liked this tag all about the spring time even though it was raining and thundering outside throughout the entirety of me writing this.
Thanks for reading and stay safe!
