March Wrap Up

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog.

Well March was a month that happened wasn’t it. I was expecting a month filled stressing over exams and instead I’ve spent the last two and a half weeks binge-watch Brooklynn 99 and I managed to read 9 books!

I’m literally 10 books ahead of schedule on my Goodreads challenge and I’m feeling very accomplished right now.

This month I read both Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare and I had so much fun with both of these, so much fun infact that I wrote a whole post talking about why Clockwork Prince is the best Shadowhunter book ever! I’m starting to think the Infernal Devices might be my favourite trilogy of the franchise.

It took me quite a while to get through but I read The Secret History by Donna Tart this month and it didn’t exactly live up to what I was expecting. As someone studying latin and greek at school I appreciated it. When I liked it I really liked it but the ending but it wasn’t a constant stream of enjoyment.

The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman was a fun read with fun paranormal themes and bisexual characters who I love and I ship so bad. I did a whole review about it but in short: I am dying to get my hands on Deck of Omens, I can’t wait to see Harper kick some ass and I need Violet and Isaac to be endgame!

I also read Anxiety Relief for Teens because I got an ARC and my anxiety has been flaring recently so I figured it couldn’t hurt.

I sped through another ARC this month: The Dawnvel Druids by William Collins. I don’t have much to say about this. I liked the premise, it had “good bones” but the execution could have been better.

Five Feet Apart by Rachel Lippincott really took me by surprise when I read it on I really loved Stella the main character and I was reading it at the same time I was reading Clockwork Angel which meant I was reading two books featuring arsehole characters called Will. Overall I really liked the book and the movie and yes I cried.

I was given an ARC of More Than Maybe by Erin Hahn, one of my most anticipated releases of 2020. This was due to come out in May, due to everything going on right now it’s been pushed back to July so I’m really early but it’s fine. Basically I loved this, it did not dissapoint and I can’t wait for it to come out so I can talk more about it!

I kind of slipped into a mini book hangover after reading More Than Maybe so a couple of days later I read Heartstopper Volume 3 to try and reset my brain. They went to Paris in this book and everyone was adorable and there’s so many LGBT+ characters it’s amazing but also it’s going down a dark path! If you’ve read Solitaire also by Alice Oseman you’ll know so I’m scared but excited for future instalments.

I am quite happy with everything that I’ve read this month, even if the circumstances aren’t the best. I’m also annoyed I let myself fall in a mini book hangover because I totally could have reached 10 books but on the other hand I got through season 1 of brooklynn 99 soo …

I’d love to know what you’ve been reading this month. Thanks for reading and stay safe.

Elli xx
