Hello 🙂 I should be doing anything but writing this post right now because I have a bunch of school assignments due in tomorrow and I haven’t even started but talking about what I’m going to be reading this month is way more fun.
I’m feeling very motivated right now (as long as it’s not school related). I’m ready to make May my bitch.
I’m allowed outside the house for an hour or two a day now without getting arrested which is nice. My baby brother turns 14 this month which is also nice but lowkey terrifying. And I have a great TBR planned out.
Last month I read a fair few duds and so for May I’m trying to spice things up a bit and bring a bit of fun back to my reading and so I’m going to be reading my rainbow 🌈.
Basically this month I am going to be reading at least seven books whose spines or covers match the colours of the rainbow and I’m really looking forward to them all.
For RED I want to read Archenemies by Marissa Meyer. I tried to read this a couple of weeks ago but I really wasn’t in the mood. I really loved the first book Renegades when I read it earlier this year and I’m now hoping to complete the whole trilogy this year.
With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevado is what I want to read for ORANGE. Technically there’s not much orange on the front cover but there is on the spine so I’m counting it because I can. I’ve heard really good things about this so I’m hoping I enjoy it.
I have a few options for YELLOW so this might change but for now I’m hoping to read Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli and Aisha Saeed. I got this recently on kindle and I need to read more 2020 releases because I’m pretty behind. I’m looking forward to this but I’m nervous too because I liked Simon VS. so much and haven’t read anything else by Albertalli.
I’m continuing on my re-read of Percy Jackson for GREEN and I’m going to be reading book 3 Titans Curse aka the book where Nico di Angelo makes his first appearance. I love Nico so much and I’ve really been enjoying this re-read so far so I can’t wait for this.
Again I have multiple choices for LIGHT BLUE. The first is Alex Approximately by Jenn Bennett. I’m nervous for this. I read Serious Moonlight last month and was left disappointed and so I’m really hoping that doesn’t happen with my last unread Bennett contemporary. My other option is What If Its Us by Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli. I’m curious about this book because I’ve heard so many mixed reviews.
For DARK BLUE I’ve got Leo Loves Aries by Anyta Sunday. I don’t have much to say about this because I don’t remember exactly what it’s about but I’ve had it on my Kindle forever and it’s about time I read it.
And finally I want to complete my re-read of The Infernal Devices by reading Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare which has a PURPLE-(ish) cover. I was meant to read this in April but my reading was all over. I’m looking forward to it but I’m not ready. I know I’m going to cry. Pray for me.
Like I said I’m feeling pretty motivated this month so I have three more books on this TBR:
First we have The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith. I’m writing this in advance so I hope to God I’ve read this by now because my book report is due in today. Procrastination is going to be the death of me.
Then we have a web comic I saw everywhere on Goodreads and started reading last month: Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe. This entire thing is beautiful and so entertaining! I ship Hades and Persephone so much and I can’t wait to finish this.
And finally I’m really pushing it here but I want to try and read Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare. Yep. After reading 9 books I want to read this 600+ page beast of a book.
This entire TBR is dependant on the fact that I won’t be going back to school physically in May. If by some miracle school does return to normal no way will I be able to read all of this because I imagine my teachers would pile on the work and exams.
Either way I’m looking forward to all of these books on my TBR. I’m really hoping they’re good. I want May to be great so fingers crossed.
I’d love to know what you’re reading this month or if you’ve read any of these. Thank you for reading and stay safe 🙂
