Sunshine Blogger Award #2

Hellooo 🙂 My history project is killing me. My shoulder is cramping hard and if I have to look at any more photos of UK Prime Ministers I’m going to go crazy so I thought I’d take a break from all that, have some noodles and do some blogging.

I was nominated to do the Sunshine Blogger Award by the lovelys Virginia @ The Sassy Library Fox and Bludgers and Broomsticks. Thank you so much for the nominations!

Virginia’s Questions …

1- What’s your favourite hobby apart from reading?

Total book nerd cliché here but I like to write even if it does bring me a lot of unnecessary stress.

I’m also really into wrestling at the minute. And by that I mean watching it weekly on TV and not actively taking part in the sport. Believe me I do not have the physical abilities for that. I don’t know if “watching wrestling” counts as a hobby but it is something I’ve really been enjoying recently with watching AEW every week and also old matches and interviews.

2-If you could live in just one bookish universe which one would it be?

I wanna live in the Red White & Royal Red universe by Casey McQuiston because the 2020 in the book is nothing like 2020 in real life. Also I want to live in the same universe as Nora who I love.

3-Which book character would you love to be besties with and why?

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to be part of the Raven Boys squad cause they are friends goals.

4- Which author would make you so starstruck that you couldn’t even utter a peep?

Probably Victoria Schwab not necessarily because her books are my favourite, more because I follow her on Instagram and she seems like the sweetest person and I think I’d just be totally awkward around her. Or, well, more awkward then I am anyways.

5- Is there a book genre you’d never read and if yes, why?

I mean never say never. My reading taste now at 17 is probably going to change as I grow up but at the minute I don’t see myself ever reading like “Womens Fiction” just because it doesn’t interest me but like I said that might change.

6- Imagine you’re a writer! Which kind of book would you write? (e.g. genre, tropes, characters, etc)

My dream book I want to write includes: twisting and turning clichés, lgbt+ characters, friendships and relationships you can’t help but love, pets with funny names, YA paranormal/contemporary. Titles with puns.

I have it kind of planned and by that I have random scenes and bit of dialogue planned (and the first chapter written and re-written a billion times) but I need to commit and stop overthinking it.

7- Which book/series would you love to see as a movie adaptaion?

I’ve been reading the Renegades series by Marissa Meyer recently and I think that could be a cool show. Is this me just wanting to see a live action Adrian and Nova? Maybe. But I stand by it.

8- The best book you’ve read in 2020? (so far … I know the year is still young!😉)

Considering the year is still young I’ve read 31 books! My original goal was 40 because this year and next year are a big deal in terms of school and I wasn’t planning on reading much lol.

By far the best book I’ve read so far is probably More Than Maybe by Erin Hahn. This isn’t out yet but I received an ARC from the publisher (my first non Netgalley arc which is fun) and I had so much fun with this book.

9- Do you prefer to borrow books from the library or do you buy them for your own shelves at home?

I prefer to have my own copies of books whether that be physical or e-book but that’s because all the books are my local library are in Spanish and I don’t mind reading in Spanish but it takes me a lot longer to get through. And there’s also not much choice there either.

10- Your favourite song? (At the moment, I know there are too many great sons out there. *lol*)

I have developed a recent love for 5SOS. The new songs they’ve been coming out with recently are really good! My favourites that I’ve been listening to a lot are Teeth or Old Me. (Or their cover of Killing Queen)

11- If you could be a mythical creature which one would you like to be? (e.g. vampires, werewolves, mermaids, etc.)

I feel like being a nature spirit like a Nymph is where it’s at. Just all pastels and flowers and frolicking in the meadow. I mean maybe my allergies would have something to say about that but …

Bludgers and Broomsticks Questions…

1- What’s the first book that made you (ugly) cry?

I don’t know if this is the first but it’s the first one I remember that made me ugly cry.

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. This is embarrassing because my parents walked in on me to say “goodnight” and I just had tears running down my face. I actually have this on my TBR this month and I am 100% expecting that to happen again.

2- Any advice you’d want to give your past baby blogger self?

To just do what you want. If you want to write a post rating and ranking every season of Teen Wolf then do it cause it’ll be fun. If you want to do a cool tag that you weren’t tagged in, just do it. Channel your inner Shia Labeouf and JUST DO IT.

3- Favourite Disney movie?

I was never the biggest Disney kid (unless it was Disney channel. My favourite DCOM is High School Musical 2 or Princess Protection Programme) so I don’t have a nostalgic favourite but I really liked Hercules, The Emperors New Groove and Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas.

4- The worst book you’ve ever read? (oooohhhh controversy)

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Hahn. I hate this book with a fiery passion. I literally started reading this at like 1am. I was planning on reading a couple of chapters just to get myself tired but the more I read the angrier I got and I couldn’t stop reading. I stayed up till 3 or 4am to finish this book and then spent another hour or so going over everything I’d just read.

5- Have you ever written fanfic? If yes LiNK PlEAsE. If no, which fandom/ship would you write about?

…. yeah I’ve written fanfic. 12 year old me wrote Harry Potter and Percy Jackson fanfic on Wattpad and they’re cringey as fuck, so cringey that I changed my username so I could never be associated with them but I gained so much self confidence from writing those. It made me feel like I was good at something.

I had two Harry Potter fics: one about the Next Generation kids which got 45K views and one about the Next Gen kids travelling back to the past to the Tri Wizard Tournament which got like 80K views and my Percy Jackson fic has 150K views.

Yeah …. (and I still get notifications and comments, mainly people calling out my many spelling errors and autocorrect mistakes)

6- An embarrassing story that you laugh about now? (or stay up late reliving)

There’s so many: That time I was 8 and my pants fell down in the middle of the street. That time I fell down in the middle of the ice-skating rink two weeks after starting at my new school in Spain and I didn’t speak the language. Literally everytime I open my mouth or leave my house something embarrassing happens.

7- Your favourite gif.

(at least my faves of what I have on here already)

8- If you had to listen to only 3 songs for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Please don’t judge me too harshly because I have a terrible taste in music but probably:

  • Mr Brightside by The Killers
  • Jackie and Wilson by Hozier (his songs are the best for when it’s 2am and you cant stop overthinking)
  • Fluorescent Adolescent by Artic Monkey (idk I could just listen to this song a bunch of times without wanting to die)

9- Describe yourself in 5 Book titles.

  • The Exact Opposite of Okay (by Laura Stevens)
  • Fangirl (by Rainbow Rowell)
  • Geekerella (by Ashley Poston)
  • Tell Me Again How a Crush Should Feel (by Sara Farizan)
  • A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares (by Krystal Sutherland)

10- How long have you been blogging and why do you keep doing it? (ahem asking for a friend)

I’ve had this blog for a year and a half now and I keep doing it because none of my friends are book nerds and so I need somewhere to nerd out without judgement.

I also want to work with books when I get older whether that be in publishing or editing or reviewing so I figure why not get as much practice as I can here. Its like two birds, one stone; fun and experience.

11- Name 5 fictional characters you’d invite to your dinner party (also are dinner parties actually a thing??)

I’ve never had or been to a dinner party. Unless you count a drunken night on the balcony where I ate instant noodles at 1am but I’d invite:

  • Raphael Santiago (Shadowhunter Chronicles)
  • Nova Artino (Renegades)
  • Nico di Angelo (Percy Jackson series)
  • Izzy O’Neil (The Exact Opposite of Okay)
  • Jem Carstairs (The Infernal Devices)

My Questions…

  1. Is there a popular book/series or TV show you’ve sworn you’d never read/watch?
  2. What’s the weirdest thing you believed as a child?
  3. Favourite pizza topping?
  4. Least favourite book of the year so far?
  5. What would be the title of your autobiography?
  6. Most aesthetically pleasing book cover you can think of?
  7. What was you childhood obsession(s)?
  8. If you could have a drink with any author, dead or alive, who would it be?
  9. Go to comfort read?
  10. What 5 fictional characters would you want to team up with during the zombie apocalypse?
  11. What upcoming release would you sell your soul for to get an early copy of?

I Nominate… (but no pressure)

Thank you again for the nominations. These questions were a lot more fun than making a power point about the European Union.

Thanks for reading and stay safe.

  1. Thanks so much for the nomination!! I’m dying to read More Than Maybe, it looks SO good. And I’m so scared to start The Infernal Devices because everyone keeps saying how it broke their hearts 😂 And I totally feel ya on the living in a RWRB AU thing, ugh I wish, but maybe one day the world will actually be like that!!

  2. Ahh I loved all your answers! XD
I’ve watched a lot of wrestling matches with my grandpa when I was a kid. *lol* And so YES to Red, White & Royal Blue and being besties with the Raven Cycle gang! ❤ There should definitely exist books like the one you described! I'd read it in a heartbeat! Awesome post! Thanks for doing it! 🙂
