And once again my procrastination has come back to haunt me 😂 It’s nearly midnight and I still haven’t done my homework or written today’s post.
Could I do these things tomorrow morning? Yes, but I like sleep and I know that no matter how hard I try I’m not going to wake up early and be productive so here I am.
Today I’m going to be doing the Stay Home Book Tag which was originally created by Princess of Paperback. I’ve seen this tag all over recently and I am still stuck at home thanks to Spanish lockdown so that’s what I’m going to be doing today.
Laying In Bed: A book you read in one day.
The most recent book I read in one day was The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith not because I liked it but because I had to write a report on it and I left it till the last minute so I knocked it out and got it out of the way with in one day.
Another book I did like and read in one day was The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman. Technically I read the first chapter the night before but that was just testing the waters before falling asleep so it counts.
Snacking: A book that is a guilty pleasure.
(I’m starting to think Twilight might be a guilty pleasure because I’m obsessed with the memes but I’m not ready to address that yet…)
My guilty pleasure series is The Ghost Files by Apryl Baker and the follow up series The Crane Diaries. God these books are sooooo cheesy and I roll my eyes and laugh out loud a lot while reading but I love them and I can’t wait to carry on reading.
Netflix: A series that you need to start.
This is a hard one for me because I don’t think there’s many series that I’m dying to start, at least not many that are actually published yet.
Sidekick Squad by C.B Lee is one that I’ve been meaning to get to for a long while now, it’s all about superheroes and I’ve heard it’s got some good LGBTQ+ characters so I’m excited. I’m actually planning to read it next month in June finally!
On a slightly related note though: If you guys have any Netflix series recommendations please let me know. I’m stuck on what to watch.
Deep Clean: A book that has been on your TBR for ages.
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. I’ve had this book since it first came out I think. This was when I was first getting into reading and I basically bought the most popular books I was seeing on YouTube at the time and of course this was one of them but it’s been years and it’s still sitting unread on my shelf.
I will get to it. One day. Maybe.
Animal Crossing: A book that you bought because of the hype.
…. most of the books sitting on my shelf.
I bought I Was Born for This by Alice Oseman the other day because it was like 2€ on Kindle. I got this not necessarily for the hype of the book itself, although it is pretty popular, but more for the hype around Alice Oseman.
I love her Heartstopper series but I wasn’t too big a fan of her novel Solitaire so I’m anxiously curious of how I feel about her other books.
Productivity: A book you learned from or that had an impact on you.
You guys are being productive in quarantine? Ha. Can’t relate.
A book that I learned from was maybe Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I hated the main character Cath but I saw a lot of myself in her and I didn’t like that so it pushed me to be a bit more outgoing every now and then. Not much more but it’s a start.
Another book would have to be Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Kathryn Ormsbee which opened my eyes on a few things.
Facetime: A book you were gifted.
Again this fits for quite a lot of my books.
Last year my mum got me Not Even Bones by Rebecca Schaeffer which was completely unexpected because it wasn’t Christmas or my birthday. Basically one of my brothers birthday presents had come like a month late and she felt bad giving him something and not me and she remembered me talking about it which was super sweet.
Self-Care: What is the one thing you have done recently to look after yourself?
I ditched my class last week. Basically I only have two classes where we’re doing facetime and actually having a lesson. They’re back to back with the same teacher (lating and greek) so that’s two hours and I just wasn’t up for it that day.
I was tired and kind of feeling anxious and irritable so I told my friend I was feeling sick and ditched and ended up baking cookies instead lol.
BONUS: An upcoming release you are looking forward to.
There’s so many. I think my top 4, for now, are:
- A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik
- This Coven Won’t Break by Isabel Sterling
- Loveless by Alice Oseman
- The Lost Book of the White by Cassandra Clare & Wesley Chu
So there we go. That was a really fun and easy tag to do. I’m not tagging anyone because I wasn’t tagged but if you do it or have already done this tag let me know so I can check it out!
It’s currently quarter past midnight and I’ve gotta go analyse and translate half a page of latin because I the biggest idiot ever who doesn’t know how to manage my time.
Thanks for reading and stay safe!
