Top 10 books I need to read this summer!

Hello and happy Tuesday 🙂

This week is my last week of school before the holidays begin and it’s super weird. I really don’t know what I’m going to do with myself this summer seeing as though my usual hangout spots (the cinema and my pool) are still closed.

Thankfully I’m going back to work next month but that’s still only one night a week unless it’s busy so I’m going to need to find another way to occupy my time. Hence this list of 10 books!

Obviously I want to read so much more then just these on this list but at the minute these books are the ones I think I’m most likely to get to.

Next year is my final year of college before heading to Uni and that’s going to be stressful as is so this summer I want to try and read as many ARCs as possible and schedule reviews to take a load off in the new term.

The Extraordinaries by TJ Klune. This is actually my current read but it’s taking me forever to reach even 50%! (my own fault, nothing to do with the book). So if by some chance I still haven’t finished this come the weekend I want this to be top priority.

I’m not far enough into this yet to fully explain what it’s about but it follows Nick Bell who is gay and ADHD, and superheroes and fanfiction. I seriously need to get a move on and finish this.

I Hope You’re Listening by Tom Ryan. This book follows a girl called Dee who ten years before witnessed the abduction of her best friend. Books like this really intrigue me so hopefully I’ll like it.

Mayhem by Estelle Laure. I’m part of the blog tour for this next month so this will be one I’m reading very soon. It’s set in the late 80’s and has magic that’s passed down through generations. I have high hopes for this. I like the cover. I like the idea of the 80’s setting and I definitely like magic.

Even If We Break by Marieke Nijkamp. For some reason I had it in my head that this was about a cult but upon a re-read of the synopsis … it’s not. Where did I get cult from? It’s actually about five friends, in a cabin, with lots of secretes, you know the deal, and there’s some sort of deadly game and nobody is safe.

Only Ashes Remain by Rebecca Shaeffer. The fact that I haven’t gotten around to reading this yet is offensive to me personally. This is the sequel to Not Even Bones which I loved so much last year (might have been the year before tbh) and the third book comes out this year so I need to crack on. This series is dark and gory all about supernatural creatures and black markets. I’m hoping to love this just as much as I loved the first.

Supernova by Marissa Meyer. I’ve got to admit I’m scared about this one. This is the conclusion to the Renegades trilogy which I started this year and definitely want to finish this year too. I’ve heard this is disappointing. Listen as long as Adrian and Nova are endgame I can deal. God please say they’re endgame!!!

Deadly Little Scandals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. This is the sequel to Little White Lies a book all about debutantes and secretes. I read this first book last summer and had a lot of fun so I’m hoping for a repeat. I think this about debutants, sororities and even more secretes so that sounds promising.

All For The Game by Nova Sakavic. I re-read The Foxhole Court a month or two ago and so now the rest of the series must follow because I love this series so much and I read it every year.

The Wrong Side of Right by Jenn Marie Thorn. There’s been a lot of politics in YA recently and I want to do a post talking about some of them including this. I read this years ago when I was first got into YA and it follows a girl who finds out she is the daughter of a politician currently running for President.

The Naturals series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. You ever just spot a book on your shelf and suddenly have the urge to pick it up immediately? Yeah that’s been happening with me and this series recently so I’m giving in to my reading needs and I’m going to re-read these books all about teenagers solving murder cases with the FBI.

So those are just ten of the books I hope to get to this summer but there are also so many more.

Every summer I get stuck in a book slump so I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself. I just want to chill and read as much as possible before the hell that will be 2nd Bachillerato starts.

Do you have any reading plans mapped out for summer? Thanks for reading and stay safe!!!

Elli xx
