What is even happening this month? // July TBR (kinda)

Hi and hello and hi.

Quick question: is anyone else not getting notifications for when they’re tagged or mentioned by other people or is that just me? If you’ve tagged me in anything recently and I’ve seemingly ignored you I’m sorry. My computer or this website is dumb.

Anyways today I am going to be talking about my plans for July. I have no idea what to expect from this month but here is a list of things I would like to accomplish:

1- Read some books.

What books? I’m not sure exactly. While in the past couple of months I’ve done well with setting myself a structured TBR that’s gone out of this window this time around.

mayhemI know for a fact I’ll be reading Mayhem by Estelle Laure as I am part of the blog tour next week. I’m not 100% clear on the synopsis but I believe it’s about a girl who discovers her family have powers, something along those lines. I’m not sure what to expect from this but this will be one of the next books I pick up.

I also have plans to read a lot of Jennifer Lynn Barnes booksdls this month. She’s one of my favourite authors so I want to begin my re-read of The Naturals, a series following teenage profilers working for the FBI, I want to read Deadly Little Scandals, a sequel I just haven’t gotten to yet all about southern debutantes with a hint of murder, and I also want to start reading her backlist series The Fixer, a duology about a girl who I believe becomes a political fixer.

Overall I’d say my reading plans for this month include a lot of re-reads. The Naturals, like I said, is one I want to start again but I also want to re-read Tales From The Shadowhunter Academy throughout July and begin my re-read of The Kane Chronicles a trilogy I’ve never actually completed which my friend, who is equally obsessed as me, find blasphemous.

2- Try to make it through The Reading Rush.

Last year I took part in the Reading Rush. I had a lot of fun and actually didn’t do as bad as I was expecting.

The Reading Rush this year takes place between the 20th and the 26th and I am 100% planning on taking my part. My TBR will be up closer to then because the challenges are actually pretty hard this year and I don’t know what I want to read.

3- Learn to drive.

Last week I started my driving lessons and believe you me it’s not as easy as Mario Kart brrombroommotherfuckermade it seem.

I’ve not actually gotten into a car yet, I’ve been doing daily classes and online quizzes. I think here in Spain you actually have to pass your theory test before starting on the actual driving which makes sense since apparently we learn to drive in the middle of Malaga.

My dad drives lorries across Europe for a living and even he won’t drive in the middle of Malaga because it’s too busy and, no offence, but Spanish drivers are lowkey crazy, so I’m scared.

4- Play a lot of the Sims.

I randomly opened a restaurant in the Sims the other night with plans to play for an hour and then finish my current read… Yeah I genuinely didn’t move for 5 hours πŸ˜‚

I’m currently living out my dreams as a restaurant manager. I built the place myself. It’s literally just a box but it’s a cute box which is the only thing that matters and after a few nights of playing obsessively my restaurant has a 4 star rating.

5- Write

I tried to write a books last year.Β  Imma try to write a book this year.workworkworkworkwork

Will I fail? probably. Will I write and re-write the first chapter over and over but never pass that first chapter? Most likely. But I’m really gonna try not to stress so much anymore. I’m gonna write what I want to write, write what makes me laugh and what I’d want to read without overthinking everything.

I’m too embarrassed to talk about my writing with real life people I see on a daily basis but if anyone ever wants to chat through their WIP or something let me know.

6- Watch a whole bunch of stuff.

I’ve got a pretty extensive list of things I’m hoping to watch this month which is not the norm for me.

For some reason I started watching The Fast and the Furious movies on Netflix while lvplaying Sims the other day because I cannot sit and play silence and be alone with my thoughts so I’ll probably continue with those because why not?

Love, Victor came out last month and I’ve not watched it yet so I’m going to try and get on that in July. If you don’t know this is a spinoff series of Love, Simon which is, of course, the book to movie adaptation of Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda. I’ve seen gifs of the show online and people seem to like it so I hope I do too.

Season 2 of Umbrella Academy comes out at the end of this month so I need to hurry up and finish my re-watch of Season 1. I don’t know how many episodes I have left but it’s not many. I watched for 2 days then I got distracted by something else as always.

This month I plan on watching Hamilton just to see what it’s all about, see what had everyone so hyped. I’ve never even listened to the soundtrack of this besides the one song that goes “bastard, son of a whore”. That’s the only line of hannahbaker livesthe soundtrack that I know so I’m intrigued.

I’ve got an itch to relive my youth this month so I’m going to watch St. Trinians. God this movie brings back memories. I remember going to Blockbuster and renting this movie and just saying that makes me feel ancient.

And finally the last thing I want to watch this month is Cursed. This comes out on the 17th I think and I’ve already told my mum I’m going to be busy that day. This new series is either a re-telling or at least based on the Legend of Arthur, something I’m 100% into. I’ve been excited for this since it was announced and the trailer looks really cool so I’m hoping it lives up to expectations.

So yeah. That was an in-depth look at my plans for the month. I’m going to try and do all of this while maintaining a some what normal sleep schedule although I say that every year and fail every year.

I’d love to know what you’re planning doing this month; what you’re reading, what you’re watching. Thanks for reading and stay safe πŸ™‚
