It’s actually kind of perfect me doing this tag because today I’m going to the beach for the third day in a row. I’ve lived in Spain near on 8 years now and I have never been to the beach this much in one summer, let alone one week even though it’s a 10 minute walk from my house.
I’m not a huge fan of the beach (the sand, the sweat, the wearing a bikini) but the past couple of days have been super fun … even if I did get sunburnt on my upper thigh to the point where I can’t sleep😂☀The Beach: A Book Set Somewhere Tropical☀
I feel bad because I’m totally copying LaRonda here. I just don’t read books in tropical settings so I’m going to have to go with Summer Bird Blue by Akemi Dawn Bowman as this book is set in Hawaii.
Maybe I could also go with The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare & Friends since one of the novellas in that bind up is set in Peru(?) but that might be pushing it.
☀Music Festival: A Book with a Focus on Music☀
I know I talk about this book and this author wayyyyy too much but the prompt demands it and so I MUST!
Erin Hahn has written two books with music as the main focus. I loved both You’d Be Mine which follows a teen heartthrob who must go on tour with rising country star or be dropped from his label, and More Than Maybe which follows a girl who wants to be a musical journalist and a boy whose father is a famous ex-punk star.
In both of these books you can really tell how much music means to the author and I will recommend these books till the end of time!!
☀Watermelon: A Book with a Juicy Secret☀
Little White Lies and Deadly Little Scandals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes are both BURSTING with juicy secretes and southern belles and debutantes.
God the drama in this book was so good! I could not stop reading, I could not stop gasping. Please go check out this duology, it’s perfect for summer and it’s soo underrated.
☀Water Park: A Book Set Near or on The Water☀
Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett is set in a coastal surfing town and one of the main characters is a surfer which I really liked.
This book follows Bailey who moves to this town and, coincidentally, it’s the same town where her online friend and fellow movie buff Alex lives and so before any awkward meetings can happen she decides to track him down for herself.
Super cute. One of Bennetts best. Another great one for the summer!
☀Ice Cream: A Book or Genre That is a Guilty Pleasure☀
I am a sucker for ghost books, more specifically books and stories where the main characters can see ghosts. Is this technically a genre?
One genre that is definitely becoming a new guilty pleasure is romance and new-adult romance. I’m only really “dipping my toes” in these books at the minute, I’ve not fully dived in but I’ve been enjoying more and more of these type of books lately.
☀Picnic with Friends: A Book About Friendship☀
I recently read Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde and while it’s definitly not the main focus of the book a big aspect of this story is the friendship between the three main characters: Charlie, Taylor.
Throughout this book they’ve all got things going on such as: Charlie promoting her new film, dealing with her ex and falling for a cute girl, Taylor dealing with her anxiety and wanting to meet her favourite author while Jamie helps and they start to realise their feelings for one another. Despite all of these they were all there for one another throughout and I loved that.
☀Road Trip: A Book that Takes You on an Adventure☀
I feel like Carry On by Rainbow Rowell could definitly be described as taking me on an adventure.
There was just so much happening, the different perspectives added to this feeling of adventure and the fantastical world overall was just so interesting. I coudln’t get enough to the point where I read this in two days and bought the sequel as soon as I’d finished.
☀Sunburn: A Book that you Regret Reading☀
On one hand I definitely regret wasting my time reading The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Hann , I could have had a good night sleep but no, instead I decided to read this in one sitting till 4am because my hatred was that strong.
On the other hand I’m kind of glad I have a book I can rant and rave about.I feel like we all have that one book that we despise and this is mine.
Oh also. Two total duds that were a complete waste of my time were: Paper Towns by John Green and Away We Go by Emil Ostrovski.
☀Summer Dress: A Book that is Light and Cute☀
Cute and, once again, underrated. Prince Charming by Rachel Hawkins and the companion novel Her Royal Highness too. (Although I did prefer book 1).
Both of these books were so easy to consume. No the depictions of royalty are not realistic but this is meant to be light hearted and fun! It doesn’t have to be! This is fiction, use your imagination!!!
I am desperate for a third book, maybe a romance for Prince Sebastian ???. But alas I highly doubt a third book will ever come. I can dream though.
☀Mosquito: A Book with an Annoying Character☀
This was a hard one so I’m just falling back on an answer I’ve probably already given to a similar question somewhere on my blog but Cath from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell really annoyed me.
It’s kind of hypocritical for me to say this because Cath reminded me so much of myself😂
Cath has social anxiety and I actually read this as I was overcoming a bout of anxiety that made me miss a lot of school and all that so while reading I’d be annoyed by Cath and by her decision and actions only to realise that it’s something I would, at the time and probably even still, do which maybe annoyed me even more ??? It’s complicated.
