A birthday book haul :)

Hii and howdy 🙂

Soooo it was my birthday this past Tuesday and I turned a whopping 18 years old!

God help me I’m an adult 😭

You’d think that on my 18th birthday I’d be out until the wee hours of the morning, stumbling back home before sunrise absolutely hammered, but no.

I went out for lunch with my family, I got my meal free after giving the owners (who I’ve known since I was 10) a mini existential crisis because of how old I was, then later that evening we went for some drinks but to be honest I was exhausted from a busy week so I ended up finishing off the day in bed finishing a book.

I was also all beer and alcohol-ed out after a fair few days of under-age drinking.

I did go out the next day with a friend for dinner, drinks and a few games of pool and my boss is planning a party for me at the weekend so it really was a nice few days.

Even nicer was the fact that I was gifted 5 books for my birthday and I’m super excited to talk about them today!

I have become an absolute Jenn Bennett stan over the last year so it’s not a surprise to see her newest release Chasing Lucky in this haul. This book follows a Josie who movies back to her hometown and rekindles an old frienchip with Luc, her old best friend and the towns resident bad-boy who may no be as bad as everyone claims.

Don’t judge me but I am a sucker for fictional bad-boys (the ones who are actually misunderstood, not the ones who are borderline abusive and manipulative, there’s a big difference) and I’m also a sucker for Bennetts romances so I really hope I’m going to love this!!

Next up we have The Love Hypothesis by Laura Steven. I shameless recommend Stevens debut novel, The Exact Opposite of Okay, whenever I can get away with it because I love it so much so I’m really excited for her newest YA novel all about a bisexual genius who is an expert in everything expect love. I’ve been highly anticipating this since it was announced. I’m hoping its fun and just as funny and witty as her previous books.

This just goes to show how much of a nerd I am but I got super into the history of Russian tsars last year after researching the Romanovs. I watched a couple of YouTube documentaries and everything so when I saw Reagan from Peruse Project recommend The Romanovs: 1613-1918 by Simon Sebag Montefiore I knew it was something I definitely wanted to read and now I have it which is super cool! I will say though that this book is MASSIVE(!) with super tiny letters so it’s going to be a slow process.

Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell I actually bought myself a week or two before my birthday but I thought I’d throw it in this haul anyways. I’m definitely planning on getting around to this asap. I’m looking forward to see my girl Penelope again (she’s my fave) and I’ve heard Rowell explores the after effects and mental health repercussions that come with saving the world so I’m excited for that.

And finally I got my hands on This Coven Won’t Break by Isabel Sterling, another I’ve been highly anticipating since I read the first book last year. I’ve talked about this book a lot but just in case you’re new this duology follows a lesbian elemental witch and its sooo good. Obviously I can’t talk much about the plot of this book because spoilers sweetie but just know I am going to devour this and I really hope it’s good.

According to my dear mother I also have another book on the way in the post. that obviously didn’t arrive in time, and I have a sneaking suspicion that might be Loveless by Alice Oseman and if it is then I’m going to freak and drop everything to read it asap! It also might not be though soo …black-and-white-flowers-tumblr-transparent-12And so there we have it. Those are the books I received this year for my birthday and my super cute new bookmark too! I’m super excited to read all of these but now comes the tricky question:

What should I read first!?

If you have any suggestions I’d love to know. Help a girl out and tell me what to read. But anyways thanks so much for reading and stay safeee!!!

Elli xx
