Hello and howdy!
I’m trying to keep myself awake. I’m doing a 10pm till 2am shift tonight which is great. Yay for employment. However it’s 6pm and I’m ready for a nap. Not good.
So instead of downing a Monster like I want to, I’m keeping myself busy and I’m doing a tag, more specifically The Umbrella Academy Tag.
I wasn’t tagged for this but I’ve been wanting to do this one for a while and I binge watched the entirety of Season 2 when it came out the other week so I thought it was the perfect time to do so.
Hello: Name the best first book in a series.
I’ve racked my brain for an answer to this since I first saw the questions and I’ve got two answers however one may be cheating so it’s fine.
My “might be cheating” answer is Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare. While I obviously haven’t read the next two books in this trilogy I do thing CoG is the best first book in the entire Shadowhunter Chronicle series.
And my other answer is Percy Jackson & the Lighting Thief by Rick Riordan which is such a feel good book. I love the entire series but this one has a special place in my heart.
The Hargreeves Children: Name a big book family. (Dysfunctional is optional)
Literally every interesting Shadowhunter family is big and dysfunctional.
The World Ends in 8 Days: If you only had eight days left, which book would you choose to be your last read?
If I knew I only had eight days to live I’d either be like “fuck it all” or have panic attack. Probably a mix of both.
But I’d also definitely re-read the All For the Game trilogy by Nora Sakovic. This is my favourite series ever. And since it’d be the end of the world and I am 100% not the Chosen One™ I’ll have time to read all three books.
SpaceBoy: Name a character who plays the leader, but may not be cut out for it.
I. Am. Stuck
Katniss Everdeen maybe? I mean from what I remember she was more than capable but it was a case of not wanting to be the leader. Girl just did what she had to do because the government kept trying to kill her.
Throwing Knives: What literary weapon would you want in your arsenal?
Preferably a weapon that requires little to no physical ability because I have non of that meaning seraph blades and demi-god swords are out.
I Heard a Rumour: Name a book that has a misleading plot line.
Easy. Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin. I thought this book was about Nazi’s and werewolves! Yes it’s about Nazi’s but there is nothing whatsoever about werewolves and I was sorely disappointed.
This book is set in a world where the Nazi’s won and it follows a girl who takes part in a motorcycle race which she must win in order to get close enough to Hitler to kill him. The girl was subject to experiment and so she can shape-shift her face.
I saw “shape-shift” in the synopsis and a wolf on the cover and I just kind of assumed it meant werewolves. I was very wrong
Klaus: Name a book that involves the dead/ghosts/etc.
Everytime I get a question like this in a tag I have to shout out Shade & Revenant by Mere Joyce. These are the first two books in a series about a summer camp for kids who can see ghosts. It’s so much fun, there’s an LGBT+ romance that blooms throughout the two books and it’s criminally underrated!
The Boy: Recommend a book that plays with time (whether it be in dual timelines, involving time travel, etc)
I’ve really not read enough books about time travel but the Ruby Red trilogy was fun. I barely remember anything besides the fact that I didn’t like the love interest however I do remember that I devoured the series. It was entertaining while I was reading.
Vanya: Name a character who has buried potential
Nico di Angelo has the potential to be the main character of his own trilogy or even series and that’s all I’m gonna say on that.
Luther & Allison: Name a questionable book couple, and why you do or don’t like them.
Hmmm. I genuinly can’t think. Brain dead. Leave me a reminder of all the creepy and cringe couples in the comments.
Maybe I’ve forgotten on purpose. Maybe I hated them so passionately that I blocked them out lol
Hazel & Cha Cha: Pick a deadly book duo.
I feel like Six of Crows has a bunch of deadly duos: Kaz and Inej. Inej and Nina. Kaz and Wylan. Wylan and Jespar.
God I seriously need to re-read this series soon.
Goodbye: What’s the best finale?
A damn good question with a damn good answer. I personally thing The King’s Men by Nora Sakovic is an amazing finale but obviously this is going to be each to their own.
I love this finale because for one thing we get the endgame romance and for another thing the way the story is told is very interesting. One major plot point is wrapped up slightly over halfway through the novel meaning we see the aftermath of this huge event whereas other books normally end the book after that with just an epilogue.
Butttttt I may be biased because like I said this is one of my favourite series.
So there we go. That was the Umbrella Academy book tag (I tried to find the original creator but the OG video seems to have been deleted).
This was a lot of fun and has kept me busy for a while. I’m not fully awake yet but I’m not asleep either so that’s a good sign. I’m thinking an ice-cream is in order so maybe that’ll work.
Is anyone else as obsessed with this show as me? What did you think of season 2? Do you have any theories for season 3? Let me know. (but maybe put a spoiler alert just in case).
Thanks so much for reading and stay safe :)))
