Hello and happy Monday☺
We’re kicking the week off with two new changes! The first being that after two years of blogging I have finally figured out how to make my blog actually look kinda cute! Gone are the solid colours and fonts I never liked! It’s incredibly embarrassing that it took me this long to figure it out but I’m super happy with how everything looks now
The second new change is that this month I am taking part in #5OnMyTBR. I’ve seen this weekly meme floating around the place for a while now and it seems really. With me going back to school this month it seems like the perfect time to participate too.
This weeks theme is Autumn Reads and so here are 5 books I think are going to be perfect for the Autumn time and are actually books that I’m hoping to get to over the next three months.
1) The Guinevere Deception by Kirsten White
Does this book cover not just scream Autumnal vibes to you? Because it does to me and I’ve definitely been holding out to read it.
The Guinevere Deception follows Princess Guinevere who is sent to Camelot by the great wizard Merlin to marry and protect King Arthur.
I love Arthurian legend inspired books and shows. I literally started watching Cursed on Netflix last week and watching that show has gotten me even more excited for this book!
2) Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson
While this is on my TBR it’s technically going to be a re-read for me as I first read it a year or two ago. Considering the fact that I remember nothing (including the main characters first name) I have no shame putting this on my list.
Truly Devious follows a girl who is super into true-crime as she attends a boarding school where decades prior there was a famous murder/kidnapping (?) and so she is set on solving this decades old mystery.
I’m really hoping to get to this, like this (more then I did originally anyways) and hopefully continue on with the series.
3) Dangerous Remedy by Kat Dunn
With only a few months left in the year I really need to get cracking on my 2020 anticipated releases!
Dangerous Remedy is set during the French Resistance, I believe, a time period I was fascinated by when we studied it in school last year.
This book follows a revolutionary’s daughter who leads a band of outcasts. Together they cheat death while saving those set to be executed but their latest rescuee is not what she seems.
Autumn is the perfect time for me to read historical fantasy and I need to get reading this asap!
4) The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
The fact that I didn’t know this book existed until like … 3 weeks ago, is CRIMINAL! How the hell did I not know my favourite author had a new book out. #FakeFan
This book is pitched as One of Us Is Lying meets Knives Out. Yessss!!!!
I loved that book. I loved that movie. I love Jennifer Lynn Barnes. This is obviously going to be amazing.
I feel like this could be a good “rainy day” book and while it’s still a million degrees here I am impatiently awaiting a thunderstorm to really set the scene for this book!!
5) Cemetery Boys by Aiden
Halloween is upon us and I am in the mood for LGBT+ spooky stuff!
Cemetery Boys follows a boy called Yadriel who is determined to prove himself to his family as real Brujo. To do this he tries to find his dead cousins ghost and set him free but instead he accidently summons the ghost of the towns resident bad-boy who is not about to die quietly.
I’m predicting 5 stars for this one. I’ve seen nothing but rave reviews and I’m excited!!!
Sidenote: Do these two guys on the cover not look like Adam Parrish and Ronan Lynch from The Raven Cycle?!?
So that was my first time participating in #5OnMyTBR and I really enjoyed it! Can’t wait to see the rest of the prompts for the month.
I’d love to know if any of these books are on your TBR or what you thought of them if you’ve already read them! Thanks so much for reading and stay safe!!
