Books About Book – #5OnMyTBR

Hi, hello and howdy!!

It’s Monday which means it’s time for another round of #5OnMyTBR. Yayyy!!!

It was my first week back at school last week after nearly 6 months off so I was anxious as hell, which lead to me binging Netfix all weekend as a distraction. Because I chose to watch a lot of TV instead of being productive I ended up missing last weeks round but I’m back today to talk all about Books About Books that I want to read 🙂

#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @Local Bee Hunter’s Nook (me!) and you can learn more about it here or in the post announcing it. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.

By the Book by Amanda Sellet

This cover is cute 😍

By the Book follows a classical book lover, Mary, who starts writing a list of “the Scoundrel Survival Guide, a rundown of literary types to be avoided at all costs” after a girl at her school falls for “a notorious cad” (btw I have no idea was “a notorious cad” means but I’m intrigued”).

But then Mary goes and falls for the number one bad boy on her list.

I’m probably going to be totally out of the loop when it comes to mentions of classics but I am a sucker for books with badboys so I’m super interested!

Verona Comics by Jennifer Dugan

An LGBT+ romance set at a comic shop! Be still my nerdy little heart!!!!

Verona Comics follows Jubilee, an elite cellist forced to work at her step-mums comic shop, and a spiralling Ridley whose parents own the biggest comic shop chain in the country. The two meet at a comic convention prom and can’t help falling for each other. The only problem is that their parents hate each other.

Ok now that I’m reading that synopsis and noticing that title I’m thinking … Romeo & Juliet retelling and I’m excited.

Bookish and the Beast by Ashley Poston

So this is the 3rd book in the Once Upon a Con trilogy and I’m actually considering binging the series and doing a joint review.

This book is set at a library where small town girl Rosie Thorne and Hollywood star Vance Reigns accidently destroy a rare book and are forced to work to pay off the debt.

While most super-fans would love to work so close to the Vance Reigns, Rosie has discovered that he’s actually a giant jerk.

Beauty and the Beast + library setting + famous celebrity + hate to love (?) = yes please!

Beach Read by Emily Henry

This book was everywhere this summer to the point where I’m now interested in reading it.

Beach Read is slightly different to the other books on this list as it actually follows two authors who have hit a bit of a writing slump and to try and get them out of that they decide to switch genres! I also think this is a romance novel so somewhere in the writing process they fall in love. Oh. And it’s set on a beach if that wasn’t evident enough by the title.

As someone who is really into romance novels at the minute, and as someone who would love to one day write a book this sounds really interesting to me and I’m thinking of maybe saving this for next summer.

The Library of the Unwritten by A.J Hackwith

I legit went on a hunt for this book!

I saw this mentioned in someone’s YouTube video and thought it sounded so cool but, like the idiot I am, I never wrote the title down and so when this weeks prompt came I really wanted to include this book and had to scour through online lists till I found what I was looking for.

I’m a bit murky on the details but The Library of the Unwritten is about a place in Hell where all the stories unfinished by their authors reside.

I don’t know more then that. I don’t want to know more then that.

And so there we have 5 books all about books/writing/libraries that I am definitely interested in reading. I think Verona Comics is one to add to my Christmas list because it looks super cool.

If you’ve got any books about books recommendations I’d love to hear them! Thanks so much for reading and stay safe!!

  1. I’ve seen The Library of The Unwritten on my Goodreads one night and I was like: ‘Oh, pretty cover, cool title – wonder what it is about…’ and now I just think about the concept all the freaking time. I really want to read it!!

Also, Verona Comics sounds like it would be so cute, I might melt…

  2. Oh, The Library of the Unwritten is on my list as well this week! I actually bought an ebook on a discount recently so I should get to it soon 😀
And Verona Comics sort of gives me You’ve Got Mail vibes but with comic shops instead of bookshops? Sounds cute and interesting!
    Good luck with school!! 🙂

    1. Can’t wait to see what you think about Library of the Unwritten.
There’s been a recent insurgence of “teens falling in love but their parents are rival business owners” recently and I loved it!
      Thank you :))
