Guyyyyysssss!!! It’s October 1st and you know what that means … IT’S HALLOWEEN!!!
Are you excited? I’m excited! I have exactly 0 plans this year due to the fact that I have no friends and we’re in the middle of a world wide pandemic but I just like the Halloween Vibes™.
In celebration of it being Spooky Season I bring to you an October TBR which features a couple of books that I hope are going to get me into the mood.
This month I am hoping to read 5 books. I’ve done the math, something I rarely do because math makes my brain hurts, and I’ve realised that if I read 5 books every month for the next 3 months then I will accomplish my unofficial goal of reading 100 books this year.
It’s crazy to me that I could possibly achieve this. I’m never gonna get this close again so I really wanna buckle down. And so without further ado these are the books I want to read this month:
My Current Reads:
The Roommate by Rosie Danan – I’ve been feeling kind of “slumpy” recently so I though to myself “hey, maybe a quick and easy romance will get you back in the mood” so I picked up this book. The Roommate follows Clara, a New York socialite, who moves to LA and finds out her new roommate is a porn-star. I mean, what a concept!
I’m only about 20% in so far because something happened while I was reading last night and I was hit full force with the second hand embarrassment but I’m hoping to finish this soon.
The Scapegracers by Hannah Abigail Clarke – Does it count as “currently-reading” if I fell asleep halfway through the first chapter? Imma say yes just because. I’d like to make clear that I fell asleep because I was very, very tired and not because the book was boring, the … three(?) pages I read definitly caught my attention.
I’m unclear on the details of the plot but it;s got a cute cover, witches and I’m 99% sure the main character is a lesbian. That’s all I need to know. Gonna try reading this again tonight, hopefully won’t pass out halfway through a chapter again.
You Know I’m No Good by Jessie Ann Foley – I am actually going to be part of the Blog Tour for this book which is super exciting. I really love the cover! This book follows a troubled girl called Mia who is sent to boarding school. It seems like it’s going to discuss feminism and be a sort of coming of age novel so I’m highly anticipating this book.
Of Wicked Blood by Olivia Wildenstein & Katie Hayoz – Witches. That’s what this book is about I think. I don’t know. I’m hoping it’s gonna be a quick and fun read for spooky season. I’ll let you know more once I’ve read the book.
Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalo – This is from the author of the Stalking Jack the Ripper, a series I’ve not read yet but am interested in. It follows two sisters, one of whom dies and then the other sister meets a Prince of Hel. I have no clue what happens after that but it sounds pretty cool.
Wicked Fox by Kat Cho – I’ve been wanting to get my eyeballs on this book for what feels like forever now and I’m really hoping October will be the month.
Despite having talked about this book a fair few times on my blog by this point I’m still hazy on the details of the plot. I believe it follows a girl who has to decide between eating the soul of a guy she loves or aging and subsequently dying. Maybe? Don’t take my word for it. Either way I’m excited for this!
The Crane Diaries: The Red Church by Apryl Baker – I had to read an Apryl Baker for Halloween. I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t. This is a sequel series to The Ghost Files and these books are my guilty pleasures.
While not the most well written books in the world I find them so entertaining. They follow a girl who can see ghosts and despite trying her best to ignore them gets caught up in dangerous ghost drama. So much drama, wayy too many boys vying for her attention, so much sass from the main character. I love itt.
Legendborn by Tracy Deonn – I was meant to read this in September but my copy arrived while I was in the middle of a sort of slump and I’m convinced this is going to be a 5 star read so I didn’t want to mess with that.
If you don’t know, this has been compared to “the Mortal Instruments” with a girl discovering the existence of demons after the death of her mother. If I don’t love this book I genuinely think I might cry.
I feel like I included wayy more books on this TBR then I originially meant to so that’s fun for me. I will be very shocked if I manage to get to all of these but like I said I am aiming for 5 at the least.
If you’ve read any of these I’d love to know what you thought! Thanks so much for reading and happy Spooky Season!!!
