✨Magic✨- #5OnMyTBR

Hi, hey, hello!! Happy Monday 🙂

Why does productivity strike at the absolute worst time? It’s currently 2am. I’ve not long finished my shift and instead of trying to sleep so I can power through on all of my homework tomorrow I am sat here, eating Cheerios, catching up on YouTube drama and I’m about to talk all about Magic Books!!!

#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @Local Bee Hunter’s Nook (me!) and you can learn more about it here or in the post announcing it. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.

A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik

This book is beautiful and I have all of my fingers crossed that the insides are just as good.

A Deadly Education is set at a school for the magically gifted called “The Scholomance” where learning has never been so deadly. Other then that I know that the main character is called El but that’s about it.

I’ve seen people reading this and God I’m so jealous. I’m sticking this on my Christmas list so I probably won’t get to it for a few months but I’m excited.

Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin

I stuck this on my “must read before Halloween 2020” list last year but have I read it yet? Nope. Of course I haven’t. I very rarely follow through on long-haul TBR’s/

I do still want to read this book, especially because I’ve seen such polarising reviews. Some people love it, some people hate it and I’m interested to see where I fall. This book follows a witch and a witch hunter who have to get fake married so it’s hate-to-love and a fake relationship WITH MAGIC!!

I’m lowkey hoping this becomes some sort of guilty-pleasure.

The Ravens by Kass Morgan & Danielle Paige

Hmm. Ok. So. I originally thought this was a 2021 release but now I’m seeing the publication date is November 3rd 2020 so I really don’t know what to believe.

This book follows a sorority house that’s also a coven of witches!! I read a book with a sort of similar plot recently: badass female characters with layers to their personality + great friendships + coven of witches and I liked that so hopefully I enjoy this too.

So while I don’t know for definite the release day of this book I am still looking forward to reading it.

The Lost Book of the White by Cassandra Clare & Wesley Chu

I ordered this book the day it came out. It said “expected delivery date 4-5 days”. I put my details it, I clicked “buy”and then the expected delivery date changed to 4-5 WEEKS!!! W.E.E.K.S 😭

This series isn’t very deep. They don’t add much to the overall plot of The Shadowhunter Chronicles but they’re fun. If you can’t beat capitalism you may as well at least give in when things give you joy and happiness.

Of course this book follows Alec, a Shadowhunter, and Magnus, a warlock, and with little Max Lightwood-Bane being a part of this book that’s double the magic!

Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins

The cover for this series doesn’t fit the aesthetic I’ve got going for this post so I’m not featuring it here. Yes I’m being very vain but it’s for the Aesthetic™ so it’s fine.

I’ve been wanting to read this series since I first got into reading all those years ago but I’ve not got around to it yet.

This trilogy about a girl who begins attending a magic school seems very old school YA and cheesy but I think knowing this beforehand won’t be a problem. I think this could prove to be a really fun and fast read so hopefully I can read (and review) it soon!.

And so there we go, those are 5 magic books I want to read. Hopefully the insides are just as magical as the plot.

As always if you’ve read any of these books I’d love to know what you thought. I’d also love to know if you have any magic reccomendations because I can never have too many magic books in my life.

Thanks so much for reading, I’m going to bed now. Stay safe!!

Elli xx
