Christmas Readathon + December TBR

Hello! Happy Friday. I have never been more ready for a weekend in my life. I’m so tired. I nearly fell asleep eating my dinner earlier today.😂😭

The light at the end of the tunnel is in sight people. Just one week and 4(?) exams stand between me and Christmas break. Finally!!! My last exam is on the 14th and I have the rest of my planned from then on. Half of my time will, for sure, be spent sleeping, the rest will be spent doing things that will bring me the happiness and serotonin I desperately need right now lol.

Christmas Readathon 🎅🎄

I am 1 book away from having read 100 books this year. That is absolutely crazy to me. My goal for this year was 40! How did I do this??? I have no clue but I do know I want to read more then just one book this month and so I’ve decided that as soon as my exams are over I’m going to be taking part in Christmathon!

This is a month long Christmas themed readathon but I’m lowkey going to try and do it in a week. Will I achieve this? Probably not but I like the challenge. If you want more info about this you can check out the twitter page HERE 🙂 There’s two teams/categories(???) to this readathon and I think I’m going to go with … Team Grinch

Naughty List // Read a book you should have already read this year.

I’m sure you’re sick of seeing this on my monthly TBRs. Believe me I’m tired too. The fact that I haven’t read Wicked Fox by Kat Cho yet is a criminal offence and I’m mad at myself.

Despite the fact that it’s been on many TBRs during this last half of 2020 I still don’t know too much about the plot of this book. I know it’s got a romance. I know it’s got paranormal elements. I don’t know more then that, I don’t want to know more then that. I’m totally ok with finding out when I finally start reading.

I think this being part of a readathon will help give me that boost of motivation I desperately need to read this. Fingers crossed.

Ebenezer Scrooge // Read a book with a morally grey character.

The Raven King by Nora Sakovic is overflowing with morally grey characters and I still haven’t completed my yearly re-read and so it’s literally perfect for this question. Also another reason this book is perfect is because I always fly through these books so quickly.

Toasty on the Inside // Read a book with a romance in it.

Both of the previous questions fit for this prompt but I’m going to try for a book for each prompt and so I’m going to say: You Have a Match by Emma Lord.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC for Lords sophomore novel and I really want to read it before it comes out in the new year so I need to get on that.

I don’t know how big of a role the romance is going to have in this book as from the synopsis I feel like it might be more focused on sisters but it’s listed on Goodreads under romance so it counts.

Loath Entirely // Read a book you’re giving a second chance.

I don’t finish it beforehand then I’m going to go with Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco. This isn’t necessarily me “giving it a second chance” and more “picking it back up after exams made me put it down”. I was really enjoying it and I’d just got to the good bit before having to focus my attention elsewhere.

If I do somehow manage to finish that before I start my week long of reading then I think I’ll try and finish The Roommate by Rosie Danan which I DNF-ed a couple of months ago after not reading it for weeks on end.

And then if I somehow finish those I’m considering borrowing some prompts from Team Elf:

Christmas Cheer // Read a book with a Christmas theme.

I am 100% planning on reading 10 Blind Dates by Ashley Elston this month. I’ve actually already read one Christmassy book this month so I’m totally excited to read another.

Present // A book gifted to you.

An ARC counts as a gift right? Let’s say yes because I want to read as many ARCs as I can before the end of the year. For this I think I’m going to read Payback by Kristen Simmons which is the third and final book to a trilogy I’ve been reading since the first books publication.

As for what I’m going to be doing when I’m not reading or sleeping, my plans include:

  • Playing the Sims – The new snowboard pack was released last month and I haven’t had a chance to buy it yet but it looks so cool so I have a feeling I’ll be playing this late into the night.
  • Christmas movies – I’ve made plans with my mum to watch so many cheesey christmas movies on Netlix: The Christmas Prince, The Princess Switch, Holidate. I also want to watch Let It Snow and Dash & Lily which are actually book to movie adaptations (of books I’ve never read lol)

So there we go that’s my month planned out to a T. I’m hoping to cram as much reading as humanly possibly into the last few weeks of 2020.

I’d love to hear what you’re reading this month and also if you have any light-hearted Christmas movie recs then send them my way. Thanks for reading and stay safe 🙂

Elli xx
