My Favourite Book Covers of 2020!

Hi, hey and howdy.

I’ve just been sat staring at this blank screen for like 25 minutes and so I’m now having to bribe myself with chocolate in order to be productive. I finish this post, I get chocolate. Really it’s a win-win.

Today I am going to be talking about some of my favourite book covers of 2020. I haven’t read all of these. Infact I think I’ve only read one so this is really me going purely on aesthetics. I am 100% judging these books by their covers and that’s ok.

I also can’t promise I’ll have a decent reason for why these are my favourite book covers. My criteria is basically the covers that make me go “ooo”.

Grown by Tiffany D. Jackson

This cover is beautiful in digital form but I feel like it would be even more striking in real life. I love the bright yellow of the background, the girl, who I’m assuming is the main character Enchanted, being the main focus of the cover and I especially think it’s cool how the title is part of her earing.

Now That I’ve Found You by Kristina Forest

I’m pretty sure I asked for this book for Christmas (Don’t quote me. It was a while ago, I have a terrible memory) and I’m so excited to see it in person.

I think my favourite thing about this book is the colour pallet. I really like the yellows and the soft oranges. It’s really calming. As far as I’m aware this book follows two characters who are part of that Hollywood lifestyle so I don’t know how calm the actual story is going to be but either way, can’t wait to have this on my shelf.

The Gravity of Us by Phil Stamper.

Despite this being on my anticipated reads of the year list, I think I have since lost interest in reading. I might change my mind later on but right now it’s not a top priority.

My lack of interest in reading the book doesn’t take away from this cover though. I’m a sucker for sunsets so I was immediately drawn to the pretty pinks and purples. I also absolutely adore seeing LGBT+ couples on front of covers.

Those Who Prey by Jennifer Moffet

This book is about cults but I don’t think you’d ever know that from the cover. What I really like about this is the illustrated art of the cover.

None Shall Sleep by Ellie Marney

Without a doubt it’s the big ass knife that does it for me on this one. And the way the title seems like it’s dripping blood. This book screams “YA slasher” novel and I love it. I’m trying not to have too high expectations but it’s hard.

Verona Comics by Jennifer Dugan

This is one of the book covers where I have no clear cut answer as to why I like it. I just do.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E Schwab

Yeah the U.S cover with the black background and the constellations is pretty but I personally like this blue UK version more. I really like the yellow/gold strands and the pretty blue flowers all over.

A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik

It was this cover that first drew me to this book at the start of the year. It’s simple but pretty and kind of whimsical. Have I read this book yet? Nope. But this is another I’m hoping to find under the Christmas tree in ten days time.

These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong

I am seeing this book everywhere and I love it. Being able to catch a glimpse of this gorgeous cover every time I go onto Goodreads is a blessing and I appreciate it. I also now follow the author on Tik-Tok.

The pitch black background, the sword, the roses, the gold dragon. All of it is chefs kisses. I also think this would make a badass tattoo. Like imagine this in black and white down somebody’s spine!

I feel like cover designers really stepped up their game this year and I, for one, am etternally grateful.

So those were my 9 favourite book covers of the year, I’d love to know what your presonal favrouties from the year were. Thanks so much for reading!
