Sup my peeps.
I am tired. I’m also getting more stressed and anxious by the day so I have no regrets in starting today’s post off with a “sup my peeps”. I’m just gonna roll with it.
Today I’m going to talk a little bit about the books I want to read this February. Last month I read 11 books. I do not expect to accomplish that again because I have eight exams already scheduled for the couple of weeks. Yay😭
That being said, I have at least 5 books on this TBR (it might be more by the time I finish writing, even I’m not sure). I really want to focus on ARCs this month as I have a few Blog Tours coming up in March and I want to get ahead instead of adding more stress to my life. February is also Black History Month so I’m going to try and make an extra effort to read books by black authors.
Grown by Tiffany D. Jackson – I’ve talked about this book a fair few times in recent months but I would like to say again how beautiful I think this cover is! I’m hoping I have equally as great feelings for the story inside.
This book follows Enchanted, an aspiring musician, who becomes wrapped up in a legendary producer Korey Fields. Despite his fame and notoriety he has a dark side so when he turns up dead all eyes are on Enchanted.
I think this is going to be super compelling, I’ve seen nothing but great reviews and I’m excited!
Now That I’ve Found You by Kristina Forest – Does me having read two pages of the fictional news article count as me having started reading it? I’m going to say yes because “starting a new book” is on tonight’s To-Do List and I want to check some things off.
I’m super into books following famous actors and singers and this is one I’ve had my eye on for a while. When up and coming Evie Jones is involved in a scandal (?) she seeks out the help of her famous grandmother to cool things over. The only problem is that her grandmother has gone missing. (Not in a serious way, she hasn’t been kidnapped … at leas ti don’t think so).
Opposite of Always by Jason A. Reynolds – I think this book is going to make me cry but I think I’m okay with that. From what I can gather it’s about a boy and a girl, I don’t their names, who fall in love but the girl dies. This is where I think me crying is going to come into play. But I don’t mind because the boy travel backs in time to save her.
I will never pass up a good time-travel novel so this is yet another book I’m excited for!
Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco was meant to be the next book here on my TBR but … I read the whole book before I could write out this post.
So instead I’m replacing it with the sequel, Hunting Prince Dracula.
Obviously I’ve heard of this series since it was first released but was always nervous of the hype and not overly interested in reading the series.
But then I read Kingdom of the Wicked, loved it, and immediately wanted to check out more from Maniscalco. Also … Thomas Cresswell 🖤
I read 2 ARCs last month and I want/need to keep that momentum going so I’m hoping to match, if not surpass that amount of ARCs in February.
A Better Bad Idea by Laurie Devore – I’m part of the March Blog Tour for this upcoming release so I want to get ahead and have my review scheduled.
I don’t know much about this book. Next to nothing. I did at one point, hence why I signed up for the tour, but the details of the plot have since escaped me,
I think (think!) this follows a girl who is desperate to get out of her small town. And then I think there’s some boy drama and a fire???
Listen. I’m not sure. I’ll find out when I start reading!
There are other ARCs I want to cross off my Netgalley shelf but I don’t want to jinx it. I don’t want to back myself in a corner by including them here. Come back in a month to see my wrap up lol.
It’s just dawned on me that February = Valentine’s day = me needing to read at least one romance novel??
Verona Comics by Jennifer Dugan – I hope I can squeeze this one in because I’ve been excited to read it since I found out about it. I think I have a week off at the end of February so maybe then??? (🤞)
From what I can tell, this is a Romeo & Juliet retelling but with the kids from rival comic book shops.
There’s been a lot of books centred around the children of rival businesses forming a relationship and I am living for it!!! Please give me more of these tropes.
Also, sidenote: I LOVE THIS COVER! The vibes are chill.
I hope I can read at least half of these. That’s my goal. Half. I’ve read one book already this month so I’m on the right track, but my school agenda is full at the minute with big exams that require lots of studying so … we’ll see.
I’d love to know all you’re thoughts and feelings on any of these books, aswell as what you’re planning on reading this month. Thanks so much for reading :))
