Hello and howdy 😊🤠
I have some time to kill. I’m going to the fair tonight with some friends and I am so hyped for it, especially since it was cancelled last year. The only problem is that I’m not meeting my friends till 11pm.
Obviously you don’t get the full fair experience unless it’s dark and also, I couldn’t think of anything worse then being stuck in a metal contraption in the middle of the day in 37*C weather. That sounds like actual torture. So we’re going in the middle of the night.
Since I have a fair few hours to go, I figured I’d take this time to talk about some of the stuff I’ve been watching recently.
This movie has the potential of becoming one of my favourites. I foresee myself re-watching this a lot in the future! Unpregnant is a book to movie adaptation for the book of the same name. I haven’t read the book, and don’t me but I don’t plan too. I got enough enjoyment from watching the film.
It was simultaneously really funny and entertaining while also touching on important matter in regards to abortion and bodily autonomy.
I got stuck in a loop of watching old Disney channel songs on YouTube one night. I was in the middle of listening to Determinate when I thought “screw it” and just ended up watching the whole movie with a bowl of popcorn and my dog sprawled next to me.
This is by far one of the best DCOM movies ever to have been made. Part of me feels like it was wasted on Disney because it could have been a great blockbuster and the songs could have been in whatever music charts are the most important.
My Taylor Swift fixation is still going strong.
The entire Conjuring trilogy
My mum really doesn’t like horror movies. She screams at literally anything and, not going to lie, her reactions make my own personal viewing experience ten times better.
I love these movies, so of course with the recent release of The Conjuring: the Devil Made Me Do It, we had to go back and re-watch the first two beforehand. I loved my time re-watching them. At one point my cat knocked something over and my mother screamed. Then she went to fix the mess he’d made, SHE WASN’T EVEN LOOKING AT THE SCREEN, and yet there was a loud noise and she screamed again 😂
For me, the new third movie is probably my least favourite. The plot with the witch was cool but didn’t really fit with the original two that centred around haunted houses.
Forever My Girl
Again, I fell into a YouTube dark hole, this time with random ass movie trailers when I stumbled across Forever My Girl. It’s about a country star who goes back to his home town only to run into his ex that he left at the altar, and also discovers he has an 8 year old daughter.
On one hand I was like “don’t get back together, yeah he’s changed but he still left you on your wedding day”, but on the other hand they were super cute together and I was shipping them. Damn dark haired ‘bad boys’. Also, the 7 year old stole every scene she was in. I’d genuinely consider watching this again.
I don’t think a movie featuring Octavia Spencer, McKenna Grace and Chris Evans could ever be anything other then great and this movie proved that. I’ve been planning on watching it for years and I finally did it the other week!
If Chris Evans could continue to play rolls where he is a father/father figure I would really appreciate that. I also can see in the future and know for a fact McKenna Grace will be winning all the acting awards when she’s older.
Believe Me: The Abduction of Lisa McVey
Major trigger warnings for this movie: kidnapping, sexual assault, rape, murder.
This movie was sick and twisted but so good! The fact that it’s based on a true story is even more chilling and Katie Douglas’ acting was phenomenal!
El Desorden Que Dejas
I need to concentrate if I watch something in Spanish so I needed to wait till I’d finished with school ’til I could watch this. I have a lot of feelings when it comes to this show. None of them very good
It’s about a substitute teacher whose replacing another teacher that committed suicide. This woman, Raquel, annoyed me so much. To be fair, most of these characters annoyed me, but Raquel especially. She was sticking her nose in everyone’s business and don’t get me started on how bad of a teacher she was. She was at the school like two days and was publicly excusing her students of murder in front of the whole class.
I have attended a Spanish school for the last 8 years. I’ve had a primary school teacher that turned up drunk every day and had us watch one of the most horrific movies ever, I’ve had an art teacher that almost stabbed me and a friend of mine and later got fired for hitting a student, a teacher that got fired for texting underage girls and another security guard who got fired for egging on a fight instead of breaking it up. But still, never had one as bad as her.
Elite – Historias Breves: Guzman, Caye, Rebe
Have I finished Elite Season 4? Nope. I actually can’t even remember if I’ve every completed a full season of this show, since Season 1. Its become a trend that I watch half the season in one day and then never watch it again but my friend basically fills me in on everything I skipped so it evens itself out.
That being said, I saw clips of this mini story on Tik-Tok which were too funny for me not to watch myself. These 3 mini episodes were better then the 4 seasons put together.
Fast & Furious 9
God this movie was so bad in such a great way. I basically dragged my mum and brother to the cinema to watch this because for one thing, these movies hit better on a giant screen with great surround-sound, and I also just really wanted a night out to the cinema.
My mum said two things to me throughout the course of this movie. The first being: “oh my god is that John Cena?”, and also: “pft, as if!” which I think is fair enough. I also think it’s fair to say that John Cena was the weirdest casting choice for his roll.
I’ve binged watched all these movies multiple times and I still can’t tell you how we got from illegal street racing to literally being in space.
The Shrek trilogy
Ever since I saw that all the movies were on Netflix, I’ve had the overwhelming urge to go back and watch the Shrek movies which I haven’t seen since I was about 7 years old. I actually joked with my friend that we should have a Shrek marathon movie night. Not thinking they were being serious, I went ahead and watched the first movie one random Wednesday … only for that friend to message me the next day to set up our movie night.
So in the end I ended up watching the first one again, and the next two. Didn’t even remember that there was a fourth one, so we’re planning another night to watch that. I had a lot of fun with these movies. The second is probably my favourite, nothing beats the Faird Godmothers “I need a hero” scene, although I do love the dragon/donkey babies in the third.
So those are the movies I’ve been watching recently. Looking at them now, it’s an odd collection of films but I liked everything (besides maybe El Desorden Que Dejas … that was a weird one). As always, I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these, plus any reccomendations you may or may not have :))
