Blog, book haul

Erm, how did my ARC shelf get like this again??

Howdy people, welcome to my blog :))

I literally said this just the other day but I’m saying it again: late night scrolling on Netgalley is dangerous!! One minute you’re on track to a decent approval rating, the next thing you know your shelf is full of books you didn’t think you’d be accepted for and don’t even really want to read.

Which is why I’ve been avoiding Netgalley after dark like the plague so I can’t even use that excuse for why I have 7 new ARCs on my shelf to read.

Fouls in Love edited by Ashley Herring Blake & Rebecca Podos – This cover is šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜ and probably one of the main reasons I requested it. The other reason is that it’s an anthology of fresh twists on romantic stories and I’ve been really enjoying reading and reviewing anthologies so I’m hoping it’s one I’ll like. At first I didn’t think I knew any of the contributing authors but no, I have read Tell Me Again How a Crush Should Feel by Sara Farizan and Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann. I’m really excited about this one!!

Big Boned by Jo Watson – Yes it’s a new release from Wattpad Books and part of me is nervous about that. The other part of me is trying not to judge a book by it’s publishing house and origins, especially since you can actually find some good books from Wattpad. I don’t know over much about this book besides the fact that it follows a plus sized main character and seems to focus on mental health. I have a good feeling about this one.

The Grimrose Girls by Laura Pohl – “The Descendants meets Pretty Little Liars.” That’s the line that hooked me. That’s the line that get’s me very excited. So excited that I haven’t bothered to read any more of the synopsis.

Mark of the Wicked by Georgia Bowers – This is probably going to be the second ARC I get to from this list because I’m part of the Blog Tour in August! This one follows a witch and I think she’s being framed for dark magic. It’s hard to go wrong with a book about a witch in my eyes, I’m a sucker for anything magical and paranormal, but according to Goodreads this is also Horror which is what intrigues me the most.

All of Us Villains by Amanda Foody & Christine Lynn Herman – I was very surprised when I got accepted for this one because it seems super hyped already, despite being a later in the year release. I know they’re probably not similair in any way but it’s giving me Vicious by V.E Schwab vibes just from the cover. What hooked me with this book was: “You Fell In Love With The Victors of The Hunger Games. Now Prepare To Meet The Villains of The Blood Veil.” I do not want to go back to the Hunger Games in it’s prime days, but this sounds cool as hell!

Like a Love Song by Gabriela Martins – My date for the Blog Tour is fast approaching and I haven’t started this yet šŸ˜‚ I’m a sucker for any book that focuses on fame, whether that be the music industry or Hollywood so a book about a Latina popstar who’s set up with a fake boyfriend after a messy public breakup sounds right up my alley.

Along For the Ride by Rachel Meinke – Not relevant but I really like the colours of this book cover. Another Wattpad book! And another book about a popstar … or well, a popstars younger sister. I feel like this sounds like a really cool perspective to read from.

Going through these books and talking about them has genuinely made me more excited and motivated about reading them. I’m thinking I might need to do my own mini ARC-August weeklong readathon or something to get my arse in gear. If anyone else wants to knock off a bunch of ARCs in one week with me, hmu.

I’d love to know if you’re interested any of these books, as well as what ARCs you’ve been accepted for recently!! Thanks for reading :))

Elli xx
