I’ve just realised my first essay is due in less then 10 days. I haven’t even started it yet. I barely know what I’m doing. Suffice to say I’m feeling quite anxious about it all.
Am I going to start now? Well, I have tried but the creative and motivational juices just aren’t flowing. I’ll be more productive when I’m back at uni with a large supply of energy drinks and not on my dads couch with my two little siblings screaming in the next room.
And so. To make me feel somewhat productive, I’m continuing on with scheduling some posts and so today I’m going to be talking about some series I’m determined to finish this year!
I was super happy with how many series I managed to complete last year. Can’t remember the exact number off the top of my head right now, also can’t be bothered to look, but I’m hoping to do the same this year!
Brown Sisters by Talia Hibbert
I started this series last year and I am so annoyed that I couldn’t squeeze in the final book, Act Your Age Eve Brown. I’ve really enjoyed this series so far and the third book seems like it’s going to be super fun what with Eve being the chaotic youngest daughter and the book seemingly having grumpy/sunshine dynamic.
King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo
Ok so I need to re-read Crooked Kingdom first, something I’ve been meaning to do for months now, but then I can finally move on to reading King of Scars! I am so excited to getting back to characters like Nikolai. I’m also excited because I’ve miraculously managed to avoid all spoilers which makes me very happy.
Bloodlines by Richelle Mead
I finally finished Vampire Academy last year and despite never having much interest in reading the spin-off series, I talked myself into it. Mainly because of Adrian. Adrian is also my reason for continuing on. This series really isn’t as good as the original. It doesn’t have the same vibes or intrigue. I’m halfway through though, just three more books to go.
Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco
And here we have another series I wasn’t initially interested in, talked myself into reading, but am continuing on with because of a dark haired, overly sarcastic boy.
Briar U by Elle Kennedy
I read Off Campus and then more or less all of this spin-off series last year and really enjoyed it. Gonna be honest, Briar U isn’t as good as the original but it’s still fun. Despite being on a roll I didn’t read the last book. I enjoyed The Risk so much, it was one of my favourites (despite forgetting to include it on my favourites of 2021), I didn’t want to be disappointed. My brain is weird. I’d still be totally happy to leave this series as I left it but it’s kind of annoying that I haven’t completed it.
The Ravens by Danielle Paige & Kass Morgan
I haven’t started this series yet but I have every intention to read both books this year. I’m thinking maybe a binge read is in order with this duology. I guess it’ll depend on how much I enjoy The Ravens.
The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
I have no idea where this series is going to go and I’m excited about that. From past experience I know that Jennifer Lynn Barnes has no fear in going bat-shit-crazy with her plots and, for me at least, it always pays off. I’ve got 8 months til the finale comes out though so I’ve got some time to mentally prepare myself.
The Last Hours by Cassandra Clare
I. Am. Scared. The cover hasn’t even been revealed for Chain of Thorns yet and apparently it’s not coming out til November (I don’t know why I feel like it’s going to be pushed back). Even still. I’m terrified for this book, espeically since I have iffy feelings on the ending of Chain of Iron.
And there we have my list of series I’m going to read this year. Or at the very least, a list of series I’m hoping to read.
I’d love to hear your thoughts and feelings on these books, as well as what you series you’re planning on making a priority this year. Thanks for reading :))
