Book to movie adaptations coming in 2022

HiπŸ‘‹ My eyeballs hurt.

After multiple days of stressing because I can’t figure out what I’m doing for my final essay, I finally had a breakthrough today! I think the relief of knwing what I’m doing has just sapped the energy out of me. My brain exerted itself wayyy too or something and now it’s dead.

What I’m trying to say is that I should be working on this essay I’ve finally figured out, but instead I’m sprawled on my couch because I’m tired. I need to recharge and that’s okay. I’ll get back to it tomorrow.

In the mean time, I thought I’d talk a bit about some book-to-movie adaptations … or book-to-tv I suppose.

I got all my information from this website so if it’s wrong blame them, not me.

Hearstopper by Alice Oseman

I don’t think you understand just how excited I am for this TV show. I hope to God it comes out over the holidays: Easter or summer I don’t care. I will be dedicating my life to this show. (I swear to God if this isn’t out by summer I’ll revolt).

Very grateful this is being released through Netflix. What’s up with streaming services releasing an episode a week? No. I want to binge this shit!! Thank you!!

Hand in hand with that excitement also comes fear. Charlie Spring is a precious bean but he has his problems and it breaks my heart. Am I mentally prepared to watch that?

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz

I remember hearing that not only was this being adapted but had actually started filming but I totally forgot about it until I saw it on this website. But YAY! I get to cry to a screen aswell as into my book.

I feel like the trailer dropping is going to drive me to re-read the book which is great. I’m all for that. I’ve wanted to re-read it for a while, especially since there’s a sequel now, but it just hasn’t been top priority yet.

First Kill by Victoria Schwab

I am intrigued by this one. This isn’t just book-to-tv adaptation, it’s novella-to-tv adaptation. This was originally published as a novella in the Vampires Never Get Old anthology.

I liked this short story well enough, I wasn’t totally in love with it. It’s about a teenage vampire slayer who is set to make her first kill and meets a girl called Calliope who, surprise surprise, is a vampire!

Like I said, I’m intrigued by this one. I don’t know what to expect but Victoria Schwab seems to be quite involved in it’s production. I’m definitely gong to check it out.

Paper Girls by Brian K. Vaughan & Cliff Chiang

Graphic novels aren’t in my budget so I haven’t read this yet but I will be watching the show when it comes out! (Didn’t even know this was being adapted until I was researching for this post. A very pleasant surprise)

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

Does my suffering ever end?!?!

Pros: The announcement that this was being turned into a TV show is what pushed me to finally complete the series. Also I’m trash for a trashy show.

Cons: This is being produced by the woman who produced and adapted Vampire Diaries and I’m nervous about that. Also. I loved the movies. I thought they had the perfect cast and everything so I’m still bitter that never continued.

School For Good and Evil by Soman Chainani

Please ignore the fact that I didn’t enjoy this book when I read it years ago. I’m actually looking forward to watching this!

The cast is crazy. Kerry Washington and Charlize Theron!! Also Sofia Wylie who plays Gina in High School Musical: The Musical – The Series, and Kit Young who plays Jesper in Shadow & Bone.

I think I’m going to enjoy watching the TV show more then reading it. Netflix are really coming through on the book adaptations. Please don’t mess these up!!

Speaking about Shadow & Bone … WE HAVE CASTING NEWS!!!

Tolya, Tamar, Nikolai and Wylan. LOOK AT THEM!! I’m obsessed with Wylan. Someone on Tumblr said it looks like he stumbled right out of the book and I coudln’t agree more. I cannot wait to see him interacting with the Crows.

The sad thing is though, they’ve only just started production on season 2 which means it won’t be coming out this year. Heartbreaking.

And there we have all the book-to-screen adaptations coming in 2022. There might be more. I know Millie Bobby Brown is starring in and producing The Girls I’ve Been by Tess Sharpe but I have no clue if that’s coming out this year.

If you know of any other shows coming out, I’d love to hear about them. I have a giant ass list of shows to watch that I don’t have time for already but I’ll happily add some more to that list. Thanks for reading :))

  1. Oh My God!! I’m so glad I read the post.
Reason 1: I did not know about any of these! How?????
Reason 2: I love Vampire Academy!!! Ever since reading the series AND watching the book, I’ve been thinking that they should make a movie on every book.
    Reason 3: Did I mention I didn’t know about a single adaptation?

Loved the post!!! Inspires me to get out from under a rock πŸ˜‚
