What I’ve Been Watching Recently … #6

Hello 😊

I have a bunch of work to do, plus a 250+ page book to read before 9am tomorrow and yet I’ve been sat scrolling Tik-Tok for the last hour and a bit and still looking for more ways to procrastinate.

My problem is I don’t know where to start so I figured if I crack on with a non-mandatory task it’ll get me in the groove of being productive. Is this going to work? Probably not but at least I’m trying.

I really made the most of the three weeks I had living alone before my new housemates moved in and I’m paying the price for it now because I have a lot of movie’s to talk about today :))

tick, tick … BOOM!

I forgot to talk about this movie in my last wrap up which is a crime because this movie was so good!

I didn’t know what to expect, I know next to nothing about theatre so I didn’t even realise this was based on the creator of Rent and things like that. You bet your ass the song “they’re singing Happy Birthday, you just want to lay down and die!” is still playing over and over in my head.

Death to 2021

Of course I had to kick off the year by watching Death to 2021, it seemed apt. This was actually hilarious. Its like a mocumentary going over everything that happened last year but if you told me this was a real life documentary I would 100% believe you.

I put this on one night to play in the background while playing Sims, focused way more on this movie then the family I had at my mercy and ever since I’ve had the line “7 foot frame, rats along his back” stuck in my head.

Euphoria – Season 1

While everyone was getting excited for season 2 … I started season 1. I’m chronically on the late train, no shame. I overall liked this show, it lived up to the hype. I’m not sure if I’ll be watching the second season purely because I know everything that’s happened because it’s all over every social media, but we’ll see.

I’m kinda bummed I didn’t get to see this in the cinema just because it was such a beautiful and visual movie and instead watched it on my laptop. I enjoyed this though, mainly for the character dynamics. My favourites were probably *goes to google the names of the characters because I have the worst memory*: Gilgamesh, Druig, Kingo and Makkari.

Eddie the Eagle

As you can see, I was on a roll with the shows/movies starting with the letter “E”. I’ve wanted to watch this movie for ages and I finally did it. I don’t have much to say about this one besides the fact that I liked it, and that it set me up for the Winter Olympics

In the Shadow of the Moon

This movie annoyed me. It had so much potential as a movie about a police man investigating super weird movies, but then it went and ruined it in the final leg. I genuinely felt like I’d wasted my time not only watching it, but the amount of time I spent wanting to watch it before that.

Yes God, Yes

Movies/shows/books that centre around religion, specifically hardcore Christianity/Catholicism are so fascinating to me. This movie is about a girl who goes to a catholic school and it’s her navigating the world of masturbation and sex and all that stuff. It sounds weird but it was actually a good movie. It’s not super graphic but maybe keep the headphones in and the screen away from the door just in case.

Another movie I felt I wasted my time on! This was like two hours long and I kind of would have preferred to watch a documentary. I watched this in two instalments and I should have just left it half way through. (Wierd seeing Hulk, IronMan and Magneto all in one movie years before the MCU was a thing though).

Jonas Brothers Family Roast

I was expecting so much cringe from this but it was actually pretty funny. I had to skip the entire of Lily Singh’s bit just because I just can’t click with her humour and I didn’t want to subject myself to that.

Alex Rider – Season 2

Why did nobody tell me that Season 2 came out late 2021? I’ve been waiting for the second season of this show for what feels like forever! Thankfully it didn’t disappoint. I’ve never read this series but now I want to just for more content from these characters!

So there we have nearly everything I’ve been watching recently. There’s a couple more but I’m just gonna carry them over to wrap up #7 because I’m tired of hearing myself talk.

I’d love to know your thoughts and feelings on any of these shows or movies. I’m also always open to recommendations! Thanks for reading.

Elli xx
