The best ARCs I’ve ever been accepted for!

Do I have a lot of books to read? Yes. Am I literally currently-reading (and enjoying) three books right now? Also yes. Do I plan on spending my night tucked up in bed reading fanfics? You bet ya.

To do that though I need a fully charged phone so I’m killing some time by talking about ARCS.

I still think it’s absolutely insane that I get to read certain books in advance of their publication. I’ve been accepted for some of my most anticipated releases ever and still I get giddy every time I get the confirmation email.

Today I though I’d talk about the best ARCs I’ve ever been accepted for. These are going to be split into two categories: the books I was anticipating anyways, and the books I loved that took me by surprise!

Most Anticipated!

Our Violent Ends by Chloe Gong

I got accepted for an ARC of this book on my first day of university. Despite it being the first day of a big new chapter of my life, being accepted for an early copy of this book was the best thing that happened to me that week.

Gallant & The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E Schwab

When I requested The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue I did not think I’d be accepted for it. I mean Victoria Schwab is just a huge author so I was shooketh when the email came in. Schwabs book seem to be a hit or miss for me but thankfully Addie LaRue was a hit.

I haven’t read Gallant yet. I feel like Schwabs books are for autumn and winter so I kind of missed the season for the perfect vibes. Towards the end of the year though I’m gonna be flying back and forth from America so that’s a long ass flight I’ll have to keep myself entertained for, maybe I’ll get to it then.

A Lesson in Vengeance by

I’d say this was one of the my most anticipated releases of 2021 so I was thrilled when I got accepted for an ARC, even though it was after the books actual release. I think sometimes I get ARCs for books that are already out because it’s an ARC of the UK version maybe. That’s my theory.

My time reading this one was weird. I enjoyed the actual reading experience but I had mixed feelings on the book itself.

Hawthorn Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Jennifer Lynn Barnes is one of my favourite authors. I’ve loved everything I’ve read from her so I freaked when I got accepted onto a blog-tour for this book after initially not being accepted for an ARC. The universe was kind to me that day.

As expected I loved this book. The first book I read through e-book, the second through ARC so I think when the third and final book is released, I’ll buy physical copies of all three because I love them that much and want to add to my Jennifer Lynn Barnes collection.

The Good Girl Complex by Elle Kennedy

I was accepted for an ARC of this book at the perfect time. I’d been fighting myself against re-reading the Off Campus series for weeks, trying to reason with myself that I needed to read new books.

So imagine my delight when I got accepted for this book. Reading this let me get back to Elle Kennedy’s addictive writing style while sticking to my rule of “reading new books” … let’s ignore the fact that I started slowly re-reading Off Campus after finishing this.

Unexpectedly Loved!

You’d Be Mine by Erin Hahn

I requested You’d Be Mine on whim. It’s weird to say but, despite the okay cover and the fact that it’s a country-music romance (two things I wasn’t interested in at the time), I felt drawn to this.

I’m so glad I requested and was accepted for this book because not only did I love it, but it introduced me to Erin Hahn who has since become my favourite author.

Tweet Cute by Emma Lord

This really was a lovely surprise of a book. I was drawn to this because of it’s concept: twitter wars and grilled cheese. Didn’t follow my gut with this one, rather I followed my stomach.

My stomach had the right idea though because this became one of my favourite books of the year and I even bought myself a physical copy upon it’s release.

Red White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

When I requested this book there wasn’t the hype there is today. I knew it was about the First Son and Prince of England and that’s all I needed to know.

I read this a fair few months before it was released and doing that was a bad idea because I devoured it in like two days and then had nobody to talk and rave about it with because barely anybody else had read it! This is another of the ARCs that I bought a physical copy of.

If This Get’s Out by Sophie Gonzales & Cale Dietrich

And we’re three for three of books I read way before their release date, loved and had to wait months to hear other people loving it just as much.

In this instance I was planning on leaving it until closer to it’s release date, but I read I Was Born For This by Alice Oseman and was kind of craving more of something similar. Just like that book, this follows a young but world-famous band as two of the members fall for each other. I ended up actually enjoying this more then I Was Born For This.

Confessions of an Alleged Good Girl by Joya Goffney

And finally we have the most recent ARC that I had no expectations for but ended up loving! Despite having the e-book of Joya Goffneys debut novel I ended up reading her newest sophomore novel first.

On a slightly related note, I’m loving the Netgalley App. The formatting is a bit annoying cause you have to zoom in but I like being able to pick up and read my ARCs whenever I want. That was the case with this book. I wasn’t planning on reading it but I got put on door duty at work and started reading this cause I was so bored.

And there we have the best ARCs I’ve ever been accepted for. Like I said, I think it’s so cool that I’m able to receive these ARCs, I’m always so excited and grateful.

I’d love to know your thoughts and feelings on any of these books as well as the most anticipated/exciting ARC you’ve ever received. Thanks so much for reading :))
