Romance & Randomness // July TBR

Hello and howdy.

It’s July. How the Holy Hell? The passing of time is giving me anxiety right now so we’re not going to focus too much on that and instead we’re going to focus on my TBR.

I wasn’t planning on doing a TBR because the books I want to read this month can be split into two categories: romance & randomness.

The romance books I plan to read I already touched on in my Summer Reading Plans post, and then the random books are just that – random. I’m in a mood where I want to read everything and anything despite not having the time to do so. I tend to get stuck in reading-slumps in the summer so I’m just trying my best to avoid that.

There’s no rhyme or reason and my TBR is definitely subject to change this month. But I like talking about books so I’m here anyways 🙂

The Romance

Beach Read + Book Lovers by Emily Henry – Emily Henry is an internet favourite at the minute. To be honest, she’s been a favourite for the last three years since her debut and I’m now finally joining the hype train. My main focus is going to be Beach Read, just because that’s the one I hear people talk about the most. Also it’s summer, of course I’m going to read a book literally titled “Beach Read” in July.

Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett – Jenn Bennett contemporaries make me happy and this one especially so, it’s definitely my favourite. I want to revisit this book this month because 1) I have no more new Jenn Bennett contemporaries at my disposal, 2) like Beach Read it’s set in a beach/ocean-side town over the summer. I read the first chapter of this earlier today and it already made me feel smiley.

Terms & Conditions by Lauren Asher – This is gonna be a quick read for me. I know it because I have a special type of intuition when it comes to this stuff … and I because I already started reading this two months ago but had to put it down cause life was crazy. Even though I’ve already started this book I want a clean slate so I’m going to start from the beginning again. This is fake-dating and marriage of convenience with a billionaire main character. As always #EatTheRich but ficitonal characters don’t count and they’re fun to read about.

How to Fake it in Hollywood by Ava Wilder – While the cover makes it seem like this is gonna be cute and fluffy I’ve heard that’s really not the case. I’m ready to put my heart on the line in the name of Fake-Dating and Hollywood famous main character.

The Random

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid – The third and final book in my own personal “Taylor Jenkins Reid” reading journey which, admittedly, has only included her three most popular books. This is also the third book on this TBR which takes place at the beach.

Opposite of Always by Justin A. Reynolds – Including this book on my summer TBRs is a yearly tradition at this point because I STILL HAVEN’T READ THIS GODDAMN BOOK!!! Maybe this year? Who knows. Hopefully. Either way I’m keeping the tradition alive.

The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett – Reading this book crosses off various random-goals I’ve got going this year. The first being reading books out of my comfort zone as this isn’t typically a book I’d be gravitated to actually reading myself no matter how interesting I do think it is. And also because I’m aiming to read Booktubers Favourite Book and do a whole post about it and, would you believe it, this boook is on that list.

Foul Lady Fortune by Chloe Gong – Still in a state of absolute shock that I got accepted for an ARC and so I hope to make the most of it!

Breaking Time by Sasha Alsberg – A newly hauled book. I’m just straight up curious about this book. Sasha Alsberg was the OG Booktuber in my eyes. I read so many books because of her videos and I didn’t pick up her debut, co-authored, book because it was sci-fi and just not my thing so I’ll probably pick this up out of curiosity and intrigue.

And there we have my July TBR. Like I said, with the exception of just a few of these books are all subject to change because I’m just going with the flow of whatever my brain wants to consume.

I do hope to get to all of these though because I really am excited about them all. That’s the problem. There’s just so many books I’m excited for. It gets overwhelming sometimes.

Anyways. I’d love to know your thoughts and feelings on these books, and I’d also love to know what you’re reading his month! Thanks for reading :))

Elli xx
