Hi and hello, happy Friday!!
Today I am bringing you a bookhaul. Not my first book haul of the year (that’ll come in due course don’t you worry), but actually my last bookhaul of 2022.
These books are either books I bought in New York … or books I bought to stop me crying when I got stranded in Germany. After not sleeping in 24 hours, not eating in 8 hours I missed my connecting flight due to delays. I cried like a baby because the next flight wasn’t until the next day and all I wanted was to be at home. What’s the solution to crying literally non-stop? Retail therapy!!!

Some say “when in Rome” I say “when in the USA” because of course I had to buy myself some books from Barnes & Nobel of all places!!
Yes I have an ARC copy of Foul Lady Fortune by Chloe Gong that I haven’t finished yet but this was signed – how am I supposed to pass this up? Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid needs no introduction but if it does then you can go read my review and Greywaren by Maggie Stiefvater is the third and final book in The Dreamers trilogy so really all I can say about this book is that I am SCARED!!
Finally we have Hell Followed With Us by Andrew Joseph White which I actually made my friends go back the next day for because I regretted not buying it. I’m so glad I did force them back because I’ve already read it and it blew me away!
Now we’re moving on to my “retail therapy” purchases, and also a couple of books that were for sale for 99p on boxing day.
I was exhausted on both of these days, either from the emotional trauma of being stranded in Germany, or from the amount of beer and Indian food I’d eaten the day before. What I’m saying is I can’t remember which books were bought when so we’re organising by colour.

Because I was all over the place in December I decided to exclusively read holiday books to get me more in the Christmas mood. A Merry Little Meet Cute by Julie Murphy & Sierra Simone was one I purchased to help me do that after seeing it everywhere online.
Next up we have two 2021 releases (god it feels like only yesterday these books were being released!). She Drives Me Crazy by Kelly Quindlen might be the book I’m most excited about of them all while You’ve Reached Same by Dustin Thao is one I’ve heard very mixed things about so of course I want to see for myself.
And then in this collection of books I’ve dubbed “the pastels” we have Whiteout which is an anthology and actually the sequel/companion to 2021’s Blackout anthology which I read last year and really enjoyed!

I am not a royalist but you bet your arse I will be reading everything and anything about fictional royal family’s, espcially if it promises drama like The King is Dead by Benjamin Dean, or if it has lots of magic action like Princess of Souls by Alexandra Christo.
Next up we have not one, but two books by Sophie Gonzales – Only Mostly Devestated which I’m pretty suire is her debut book, and her most recent release Never Ever Getting Back Together (not pictured because I didn’t wanna mess up the formtat!) 2023 is the year of me catching up on all things Sophie Gonzales.
The final book of this haul is Lockwood & Co: The Screaming Staircase. I bought this for multiple reasons – 1) I want to read more middle grade, 2) I’ve had my eye on this one for literal years, 3) the Netflix adaption comes out very soon and I want to read it first (although I’m sure the show will only end up getting cancelled because that’s the world we live in now)/

And there we have my last book haul of 2022. Really rounding out the year with unnecessary purchases that gave me a brief glimpse of happiness.
If you’ve read any of these let me know! Also, I’d love to know what books you’ve bought recently!! Thanks for reading 🙂
I still need to read Carrie Soto is Back – great haul!
