Reading all the sapphic romances // February TBR

You can tell I’m motivated and invigorated to read because, as I’m planning out these books, it’s early January. I’m just wanting to read everything all at once which, of course, is impossible to do, so planning my TBRs ahead of time is helping me fulfill this need.

Despite Valentine’s being only 1 day out of 28, in my brain February is the month of reading as many romance books as possible and that’s exactly what I’m going to do!! There are 10 books on this TBR and 2 less days to read them than normal (something I always forget about) so we’ll see how this goes.

My main focus this month is going to be sapphic YA romances, specifically the ones released in 2022 that I was dying to read, but just never got around to:

Never Ever Getting Back Together by Sophie Gonzales – There are three reasons I want to read this book 1) it’s a Sophie Gonzeles book and she hasn’t let me down yet, 2) it’s a reality-dating show were two girls fall in love with each other instead of their shared exboyfriend, and 3) the Taylor Swift title reference.

I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuiston – I’ve been curious about McQuistons YA debut since before this was even out and yet I’ve still not read it. That’s gonna change this month. Despite the plot giving me Paper Town vibes, a book I hated, I am keeping my fingers crossed that I’m going to love this one.

She Get’s the Girl by Rachel Lippincott and Alyson Derrick – This cover is so beautiful that whenever I think about this book, the only thing my mind thinks of is the cover and not the plot. I actually can’t remember what the plot is in the slightest, I just know it’s F/F, written by a married couple, and I’ve been desperate to read it for months.

While those are my top 3 books I hope to read, they’re not the only sapphic romances on this TBR as I also really want to read …

For Her Consideration by Amy Spalding – It’s happened a few times now but I never cease to get excited and giddy when a publisher reaches out and offers me a copy of a book, as was the case here. This book is set in Hollywood which I’m always on board for, especially since it follows a scriptwriter (I’m doing a whole class on scriptwriting this semester!) and a movie star!

She Drives Me Crazy by Kelly Quindlan – AGHH I’m so happy to have this book and I will force myself to read this, even if it involves staying up all night. I only know as much about this book as the cover is telling me – cheerleader and a jock – but if this disappoints me I do think I’ll cry.

Moving onto my not sapphic books that still very much fit the Valentines day theme. Well except for my first one but that’s a 12-for-12 TBR books so we’ll give it a pass.

Radio Silence by Alice Oseman – Will February be the month I finally read Radio Silence? I sure do hope so because it’s my 12-for-12 pick for the month. All my other books on that TBR are fantasy which doesn’t really match the vibe I’m aiming for. Fingers crossed I get to this and subsequently finish Alice Oseman’s backlist.

Betther Than The Movies by Lynn Painter – I’m stopping my Kindle Unlimited soon but first I really want to read this book. I’ve seen it all over. It’s become so popular in the last year that I was actually surprised it wasn’t a recent release. No clue what this is about, besides from romcoms, but I’m excited to find out.

Terms and Conditions by Lauren Asher – The final book of this trilogy is almost out and I’ve still not finished reading about Declan and Iris’s fake marriage of convenience. Shame on me.

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenksins Reid – This was one of, if not my most favourite book of 2022 and I’ve planned to re-read it by audiobook since I first finished it. With the trailer having dropped and a song or two already being released in preparation for the TV show’s release, I plan on making this the next audiobook I listen to! I’m so excited!!!

Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute by Talia Hibbert – I’ve really not known about this book for very long but it slotted itself into the top of my TBR and I’m really hoping to read it this month. Don’t ask me what it’s about, I’ve forgotten everything besides the fact that the main girl has a conspiracy-theory account. I do know that I loved The Brown Sisters by Talia Hibbert and I’m very much looking forward to reading a YA romance from her!

Looking at all these books now I’m thinking it’s very unlikely that I get all of these reads, especially since I start back at uni this month. I’m going to really try thought because I seriously am so excited to read every single book mentioned in this TBR.

I’d love to know your thoughts and feelings on any of these books as well as what you’re hoping to read this month. Also, another question: Do you read mostly romance books in February? Thanks for reading 🙂

    1. So happy to hear you loved it. I’ve had mixed feelings on Osemans books (loved I Was Born for This, disliked Solitaire and can’t quite decide my feelings on Loveless haha) so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for good things!

  1. Great list! I can’t wait to read quite a few of these too 🙂 Is the DJATS series supposed to be released this year? If it is then I need to get on re-reading it because I’ve forgotten so many details but I do remember enjoying it a lot! Happy reading!
