Smash or Pass Book Tag

Hello and howdy.

Today we are smashing (the patriarchy) and passing (our classes) in the Smash or Pass Book Tag! This was created by Becky’s Book Blog. I’ve been seeing this tag a lot recently and have been very excited to give it a go.

We’re being speedy with this today though because I’ve been at my dads all weekend and haven’t had a chance to watch the newest episodes of Daisy Jones & The Six and I need to catch up asap.

Bookish Tropes

While I’m not a huge fan of romance books being diluted down to just a bunch of tropes and no actual plot, I’m gonna have to smash this one cause there are more than a fair few tropes that I’m a sucker for: grumpy/sunshine, bad boy, billionaire, there’s only one bed, etc.

🌧grumpy/sunshine🌞 I still love you!

Hey and hello 👋

Last year I shouted my love for the Grumpy/Sunshine romance trope from the rooftops, specifically in a dedicated post where I read three books with this aspect. I had a lot of fun reading and reviewing those books and have wanted to do it again ever since.

And now the time has finally come and today I’ll be reviewing Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert and The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren.

I was meant to also include It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey but I got 60 pages in and couldn’t do it anymore. I wasn’t loving the characters or the plot and had to DNF it, at least for now. I might go back to it, I might now. If it get’s better and is actually worth reading, please let me know down in the comments 🙂

Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert

I’m gonna start off by saying that I don’t think I’ve ever laughed out loud (lol-ed as the kids say) so much while reading a book in my life. From page one this book had me in literal stitches which is exactly what I needed to get me out of my mini book-slump.

🌧grumpy/sunshine☀: the most elite romance trope?

Helloo 👋

The grumpy/sunshine dynamic between two characters is elite in any circumstance but it’s ten times better in a romance. I don’t know what it is about a grumpy character only being soft for their love interest that makes me all happy inside but it is what it is.

Because I love this trope so much, I wanted to make an effort to read some grumpy/sunshine romance’s lately. I decided to read: The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood, The Hating Game by Sally Thorne, and The Fine Print by Lauren Asher.

And of course because you’re reading this, it means I’m going to do a lil mini-review for each 🙂

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

Everybody and their goddamn mother has been reading this lately and, besides from the tropes it contains, feeling left out was a big part of why I wanted to read it. (Also I found out this was originally Star Wars fanfic and, despite never having watched the movies, I wanted to check that out).

I’m very happy to say it loved up to the hype though. This book made me so happy!!

My thoughts on … 💕 Romance Tropes ðŸ’•

February = all my content revolves around love and romance with an obnoxious amount of heart emoji and gifs despite Valentines day only being ONE day of twenty-eight.

Today’s round of me milking Valentines Day for all it’s worth is going to be me sharing my thoughts on popular Romance Tropes. I’ve done this before with YA Tropes and had a lot of fun.

There’s a slight chance that some of the Romance tropes overlap with YA tropes I’ve already talked about but that’s fine. I repeat myself on a daily basis anyways, may as well incorporate that to my blog too.

I’m anxious so have some Enemies to Lovers Recommendations ðŸ˜Ž

Hey and howdy, welcome to my blog.

I’m feeling very anxious right now and I can’t shake it. Logically I know why I’m feeling like this and I’m trying to reason with myself and yet the antsy-ness is still there as is the pit in my stomach lol.

In a bid to make myself better I’ve had a nice long shower, eaten some mini chocolate donuts, opened my window (why I think this will make me feel better idk but it’s open) and now I’ve decided to talk about some books.

Say what you will but I love reading about classic or “over-done” tropes, they’re classics for a reason!! I did a whole post a while back where I shared my thoughts on Popular YA Tropes but today I’m stepping it a notch and recommending to you some of my favourite Enemies to Lovers stories :))

I love a good Enemies to Lovers trope. I think I might enjoy them more in contemporary novels because they tend to be rivals whether through school or sport while typically in fantasy it’s like “oh yeah I killed your entire family but I love you”. That might be a bit of an overexaggerating but I know what I’m trying to say. Anyways, here are some I loved!
