My favourite books of the year (so far!)

Helloo and welcome to my blog :)))giphy

I usually sit here and prattle for a paragraph or two but I’m getting straight to the point today because I actually wanna go curl up in bed and read.

Before that though I am going to be talking about my favourite books of the year so far.

In the completely crazy year that is 2020 I have so far read 48 books which is wayyyy more than I thought I’d read all year let alone only up to now and yet my favourites really weren’t hard to pick out.

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

ninthhouse

Ninth House was the first book that I completed this year and so because of that I keep forgetting I read it in 2020.

I feel like it’s hard to give an accurate description of this book but basically it follows Galaxy “Alex” Stern who has lived a hard life to the point that, by age twenty, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. She is offered a full ride to Yale in exchange for monitoring the schools secrete society.

This book was something completely new to me. It was dark, daring, it made me uncomfortable so many times to the point I was reading through my fingers and yet I couldn’t put it down.

It’s also not for the faint of hearted as there are a lot of trigger warnings: addiction, abuse, assault, graphic details and descriptions of blood and injuries, to name but a few.

I believe the sequel is set for 2021 which is kind of sad because I was hoping it’d be released this year but also kinda of good because then I won’t feel bad going and re-reading this. Full Review Here.

🌼Top 5 Books I Read This Spring🌼

Guys I’m stressed. There’s a thousand bars in my town and yet everyone from my school goes to the one right opposite my house. They can see inside my living room window 😂. I feel like going out on my balcony and telling them to go find some other place to serve their underage ass.

Instead of doing that I’m going to channel my anxiety into talking all about the best books I read this spring.

In the last three months I have read 30 books. 30!!! I’m shocked too. And yet even though I’ve read so much my top 5 are pretty clear.

May Wrap Up

Helloo 🙂 Back in my May TBR I said I was going to “make May my bitch” and I’m happy to report that I more then followed through on that statement. I got some motivation back! I started being productive! And in the end I got a whole bunch of school work done and completed 10 books!!!

I set myself a “challenge” this month just to try and bring a bit more fun to reading and stop me getting so overwhelmed. The challenge was to read every colour of the rainbow, so a red book, a yellow book and so on and so on … and I did just that. It was actually a lot of fun and I’ll probably do it again in the future. This is probably gonna be long so I’m just going to start wrapping things up.

Series I Want to Start // Top 5 Tuesday

aaaa

Hello and happy Tuesday 🙂

I’m stressed right now and it’s all my tutor/lengua teachers fault. Its not the homework or worring about grades it the fact that the dude keeps posting updates on our Classroom IN ALL CAPS!!!! Literally a paragraph screaming at us about something so mundane.I feel like commenting “calm down my dude” expect I would never do that because I’m socially inept and have spoken like … 3 words to the guy in 2 years of having him as a teacher.

Anyways. Now that I’ve got that mini rant out of my system I’m going to talk about something calming: books!

Todays Top 5 Tuesday topic is all about Series I Want to Start and I’ve got to admit I found this pretty hard. I’m trying not to start too many series because there’s so many others I actually need to finish.

Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Shanah @ The Bionic Book Worm

My Most Anticipated Release of 2020 // January – February

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog!

Today I’m talking Anticipated Releases. I’m doing things a bit different this year. Last year I felt I missed out on a lot of releases because they weren’t announced yet so I figured I’d do these tri monthly. Is that a thing? Well it’s a thing now.

On this list is a mix of books I’m dying to read but there are others I don’t know much about but am interested in checking out. This is another reason I wanted to do these in 4 parts throughout the year so I can talk about more books that I’ve caught my eye. Also I’m not mentioning any sequels in this post because that’s it’s own separate thing.

Anyways let’s jump right in 🙂

January

Jane Anonymous by Laurie Faria Stolarz37650881._SY475_

I’ve seen a few mixed reviews here and there but it has a good Goodreads rating and I’m still wanting to read this. This book follows a girl who was kidnapped and it’s a story of her dealing with the trauma of that and the struggle to integrate back into normal life. It sounds like something I’d really like, if done well.

Publication Date: January 7th

Every Other Weekend by Abigail Johnson. 36547225._SY475_

Ok so I don’t know much about this book besides the fact that it has a beautiful cover. Basically it follows two characters: Adam, who’s picture perfect life crumbles after his brothers death, and Jolene who’s divorced parents are at each others throats and she’s stuck in the middle, and every other weekend they’re at the same apartment building nd I’m guessing they meet and a sweet romance ensues.

Publication Date: January 7th

Tweet Cute by Emma Lord81DZLSv7uHL

Yes I’ve read this. Yes I loved it. No I won’t stop talking about it. Tweet Cute is on this list because although, like I said, I’ve read this, I need a physical copy, I may even re-read it this year. This book features: a grilled cheese twitter war, baking, an adorable “enemies” to friends to lovers romance, MATURE AND LIKEABLE CHARACTERS WITH NO UNNECCESARY ANGST OR DRAMA! Please read this.

Publication Date: January 21st
