This fast paced, teen murder mystery series consists of:

The Naturals. Killer Instinct. All In & Bad Blood

The-Naturals-series

This series follows Cassie Hobbs, a natural at reading and profiling people, when she is recruited to join a small and pretty secrete division of the FBI known as The Naturals Program.

The Naturals Program is made up of Dean, Michael, Sloane and Lia, all who have a special gift that helps the FBI close cold cases.

Dean is a profiler just like Cassie. Michael reads peoples emotions. Lia is basically a human lie detector and Sloane is extremely loveable and also has the brain of a super computer more or less.

What Cassie doesn’t realise though when she signs up for this is that she’s in a lot more danger then she realises when a series of murders have an eerie connection to Cassie herself.

Goodreads Synopsis

“What do I want to be now? Bold. Fierce. Honest. A fighter. A revolutionary. A bitch. Because the way the world treats teenage girls – as sluts, as objects, as bitches – is not okay. It’s the exact opposite of okay.”

If you follow me then prepare yourself because I foresee myself talking about this book whenever even remotely possible.

I bought this for the sole reason that I loved the cover and it featured a pink sloth holding a skull and yet months after reading I’m still thinking of this book.

In this YA debut by Laura Steven we follow Izzy O’Neill, an aspiring comedian and overall normal girl being raised by her hard working and hilarious grandmother but her life is turned upside down when she’s involved in a scandal with a politicians son when photos of them in a compromising position on a bench are leaked and this whole slut shaming website featuring the sex photos and also Izzy’s nudes are leaked.

It follows Izzy as she tackles everything that happens throughout this ordeal, her ups and downs and everything in between.

Izzy was a great main character. She’s witty and hilarious and so strong, I wanted to scream in frustration for what was being done to her. I thought she was incredibly relatable and she has an adorable dog (I believe it was a sausage dog but I may be wrong) named Dumbledore.

Not only does is this an important story and something that needs more attention it’s told in a way that is so humorous and witty and bursting with personality.

In a world where teenage girls are highly sexualised and yet berated for expressing the slightest sign of sexuality this book is so important. It highlights how something like this effects a person, effects their life and their relationships and their mental state. It shows that not everyone you perceive to be a ‘good person’ are actually that.

The sequel A Girl Called Shameless comes out next year and it’s probably my most anticipated release of the year.
