The Stay Home Book Tag

And once again my procrastination has come back to haunt me 😂 It’s nearly midnight and I still haven’t done my homework or written today’s post.

Could I do these things tomorrow morning? Yes, but I like sleep and I know that no matter how hard I try I’m not going to wake up early and be productive so here I am.

Today I’m going to be doing the Stay Home Book Tag which was originally created by Princess of Paperback. I’ve seen this tag all over recently and I am still stuck at home thanks to Spanish lockdown so that’s what I’m going to be doing today.

Laying In Bed: A book you read in one day.

sleepy

The most recent book I read in one day was The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith not because I liked it but because I had to write a report on it and I left it till the last minute so I knocked it out and got it out of the way with in one day.

Another book I did like and read in one day was The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman. Technically I read the first chapter the night before but that was just testing the waters before falling asleep so it counts. Continue reading “The Stay Home Book Tag”

The Book Interview Tag

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog.

Ok so first things first: I’m considering dying my hair pastel pink.

I’m bored and I’m not going back to school anytime soon so why not, ya know. So yeah. I’m writing this in advance so there’s a chance that when this post goes live I could have (temporary) pink hair … or I could sleep on it and realise it’s a bad idea. Who knows.

Anyways today I’m going to be doing The Book Interview Tag. Thank you so much to Daria @ The Bookaholic’s Therapy for tagging me! You should definitely go follow Daria because her posts are really fun to read and also her blog is so aesthetically pretty!

Name/Blog Name

slim shady

My name is Elli-mai but I go by Elli because my teachers sometimes pronounce “Mai” as “meow” so it’s just easier.

My blog is called AceReader cause I’m terrible at coming up with cool names so I just smashed two words together and called it a day.

My least favourite reads of 2019

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog.

It’s that time again lads and ladies. It’s the end of another long year which means it’s time to talk all about my highly rated and most hated reads of the year.

As you can tell I’m starting off with my least favourite reads of the year, the baddest of the bunch. I figured it was best to get the negative energy out of the way first. These posts are like mini therapy sessions for me. Book therapy. Its a whole post dedicated to bitching on books I didn’t like and was deeply disappointed by. Lets begin:

The Magicians by Lev Grossman

Listen. Listen! It’s been months since I read this, back in July/August time, and I’m9780399576645_p0_v4_s550x406 still so pissed about this book. At the time I was obsessed with the TV show and I thought “hey, I’m going to love the book”. How wrong I was.

The pacing was off and all over the place, there’s a complete overuse of the words: “breasts” and “bossoms” and Quinten, the main character whose perspective we’re reading from, is a grade A arsehole which is the same in the show but at least in the show you grow to care about him. In the book he was an obtuse dickhead and I was waiting for him to die.

Also while reading this season 5 finale of the show had just come out and let’s just say I’m done with this franchise.

The “Get to Know Me” Book Tag // My 1 Year Blogger-versary!!!

Hi, hello and welcome to my blog!

Today is a day of celebration. It’s been a whole year since I started this blog.

celebration.gif

It’s my bloggerversary and I’m probably spelling that extremely wrong but I feel like terrible spelling is a staple of my blogposts. To celebrate it being a year of me being annoying as hell I decided to do the “Get to know me” Book Tag because in the beginning I never really talked about myself because anxiety 🙂

A little bit about me

My names Elli. I’m 17 and originally from East Yorkshire with the accent to prove it but I’ve been living in Spain since I was ten (although I do not have the tan to prove that). This September I start the Spanish equivalent of 6th form and I am shitting myself.

I have three siblings, two brothers and a sister, all younger, two of which live back in the UK. I also have three pets who I would die for: Fudge, Poppet and Kit-Kat.

And now that you’ve been blessed with these incredible and majestic photos let’s jump into the tag: Continue reading “The “Get to Know Me” Book Tag // My 1 Year Blogger-versary!!!”

Mid Year Book Freak-Out Tag!

Hello and welcome to my blog!

So far this year my reading is going really well. I’ve somehow managed to read 47 books this year while also keeping up with school work. I’m very proud of this.

Absolutely everybody has been doing the Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag recently and of course I’m jumping on that bandwagon too. This tag looks really fun and I’m excited to look back at what I’ve read.

🌟Best Book You’ve Read So Far In 2019🌟

untitled

I genuinely did try to pick something different for this question but this really has been the best book I’ve read so far this year. It was funny yet also emotional with a nice amount of political commentary that I enjoyed. I’ve had to stop myself from re-reading this multiple times. It definitely deserves the hype. My Review.

🌟Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2019 🌟

untitled

To be honest I’ve barely read any sequels this year. I really need to get on that. But definitely out of the few that I’ve read my favourite was Crooked Kingdom. I’m annoyed it took me so long to read this series and I’m dying for new content from these characters. My Review Continue reading “Mid Year Book Freak-Out Tag!”

April TBR

Hello and welcome to my blog!

I’m back again with a new month and a new TBR. I’m being ambitious this month but this first week of the month is filled with exams and my acne is not having fun right now so of course in the week easter holidays I plan on making up for lost time and reading a LOT.

The first book I plan on completing is my current read Goblet of Fire which I started re-reading last month and I’m having a lot of fun. I’ve got like 200 pages to go which I’m trying to finish inbetween studying.

Following my Harry Potter re-read I want to read my recent buy The Magicians by Lev Grossman. I bought this because I LOVE the tv show of which I am 3 seasons in. I’ve heard that some changes were made to the show but I’m really hoping I enjoy this series.

I then want to read Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I’ve said I wanted to read this forever but I’m hoping April will be the month! I really want to read Carry On, especially now with the sequel coming out soon but I refuse to even buy it until I read this.

And finally of my physical books I want to read Heartstopper by Alice Oseman. This is a super cute comic and I’m hoping it takes some school stress away and help with the whole acne situation happening on my face.

I then seriously need to get to some ARCs this month and these are the three I think I’ll get to.

Again but Better by Christine Riccio, this is highly anticipated read for many people and I was super lucky to be accepted for an early digital copy. I’m nervous but excited for this.

The War Blog by Glen Sobey, all I know about this is that it’s got some feminist themes. I haven’t seen great reviews for this but I’m gonna hold onto hope that I enjoy this.

You Can Change the World by Margaret Rooke, this is a collection of 50 stories of badass people. I love the cover of this so much.

I don’t know whether these will be the ARCs I get to, I do have my eye on a few others but who knows?

black-and-white-flowers-tumblr-transparent-12I’m really hoping for a good reading month this April, I’m really looking forward to spending a week sleeping and reading.

I can’t believe it! I’m so happy and proud. But there are still a couple of books I want to read before the end of the year.

I cannot go another year without ever reading an Adam Silvera. For two years now I’ve been saying I’m going to try one of his book and yet it’s still never happened! I will read this in the next two months or so help me.  Continue reading “Books I Want to Read Before 2019 // Top 5 Wednesday”
