My favourite books of the year so far!

Hi and hello :))

I’m having a really good reading year so far! Not only have I already completed my Goodreads Reading Goal of 40 books but I’ve actually really enjoyed most of the books that I’ve read. Quality is just as important as quantity.

🕯️🕯️Manifesting that the year will continue just as good as it’s start 🕯️🕯️.

Since we’re halfway through the year now though I thought I’d take today to look back at what I’ve read and pick out my absolute favourites!

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo

I’m pretty sure I’ve now read all of Elizabeth Acevedo’s published books now and I have to say that The Poet X might just be my favourite of the lot. I started this book and was immediately engrossed. It made me feel so many emotions on Xiomara’s behalf: love, anger, frustration, sadness.

Like some of her other works, this is written in verse and having just finished studying a bunch of poetry at Uni at the time, and also having read more verse over the years since picking up my first Acevedo book, I really connected more with the writing.

Top 5 Books I Read this Winter … + Autumn Honourable Mentions❄🍂

Hello.

It’s just dawned on me how much work I’ve actually got to do: two assignments, creative writing for seminar feedback, study abroad paperwork, renewing my passport, I also wanted to enter a creative writing competition.

This is not the great realisation to have when I’m running off only a couple hours of sleep so what am I going to do? Ignore all that and talk about some recent favourites!!

Today I come to you with my favourite books from December, January and February, as well as some honourable mentions because I forgot to do an Autumn version of this and those books deserve love too.

Honourable Autumn Mentions

*won’t be talking over much about these ones because, I’m going to be honest with you, it’s been a few months and my memory is not the greatest*

My favourite reads of 2019!

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog 🙂

So yesterday I talked all about my least favourite reads of 2019(which I stupidly titled 2020 and only just realised my mistake because I’m an idiot) and I really went to town on them. Today however is a positive vibes only zone as I’m going to be talking about the best of the bunch. giphy

I read 83 books this year, completely surpassing my intended goal of 60. I’m actually currently reading 2 more, one of which I plan on finishing as soon as I’m done writing this post, and yet I’ve got 9 books to talk about today.

My criteria for picking my “favourites” is based solely off of pure enjoyment. I’ve chosen books which, even all these months later, I’m still thinking about, I’m still excited about and overall I’m’ still in love with.

Any and all book reviews I’ve written this year can all be found HERE.

And finally before I start I just want to say that these are in chronological of when I read them and not by rank or rating or anything like that 🙂

9781471116704Queen of Air & Darkness was the second book I read this year and although it’s an absolute beast of a book I flew through it in just 3 days!

Yes some of the plot decisions were … odd and questionable *cough* Thule. Angelic Giants *cough* but I can’t deny that I had a great time reading.

This book made me feel so much. I sobbed in the beginning for about five chapters straight and that was just the beginning of my tears as the story progressed. I came to love so many new characters with this trilogy and I’m cautiously anticipating future instalments of this universe. Continue reading “My favourite reads of 2019!”

☀Top 5 Books I Read this Summer☀

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog 🙂

Guess who just got back from the dentist and was stupid enough to not eat beforehand and so is now starving!!!! ME :))) Yep.

And so to distract myself from my hunger I thought I’d talk about My Favourite Books I Read This Summer!

Summer has never before been my favourite season, for the most part because I’m as pale as a vampire (to the point where my old citizenship teacher asked if I was a ghost) so the burning hot ball in the sky and I don’t get on all that much.

However I’ve actually had a great time this past summer and in the past three months, June, July and August, I’ve read some really great books.

1- Not Even Bones by Rebecca Schaeffer

I was still in school when I read this and the boy who sits next to me, the only other English boy who could possibly understand what I was reading, kept looking over at the worst time. Usually when limbs were being dismembered. He was very worried about me. Continue reading “☀Top 5 Books I Read this Summer☀”
