I’ve been on morning this week at school and so I’m dead. Or at the very least, my brain is napping right now. But functioning brain or not, it’s time for another round of Let’s Talk Bookish, with this weeks topic being: What makes you pick up a book? (suggested by Rafaela @ The Portuguese Bibliophile)

What makes you pick up certain books?

Sheer randomness and sometimes time restraints.

I write out a TBR each month for the sole reason of having the satisfaction of crossing them off when I’ve read them, but even then those books are picked based on what I’m in the mood for and what books have just been catching my attention recently.

Sometimes this is influenced by hype. Seeing a certain book talked about a lot on Youtube or on blogs makes me pick it up because I want to be part of the conversation.

And then there’s the whole: I need to read this because I don’t have much time left before the blog tour/ arc’s publication date/ release of the sequel or tv show.

Do you have any book boyfriends/girlfriends?

Last year the title of “bookish boyfriend” went to Adrian Everheart from the Renegades trilogy by Marissa Meyer. Out of all the books I read last year, he was the one character that stuck with me over all the rest.

Obviously we’re still only early on in the year but as of right now I’ve got a book crush on Thomas Cresswell from Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Manisculco. I am not ashamed to say that he’s the main reason I’m continuing on with the series.

Today I’m going to be starting the Let’s Talk Bookish weekly meme. I’ve wanted to do this one for a while now but I wanted to start it at the beginning of the month and despite my attempts I kept forgetting. Oops. But finally, April is my month!!

Do you ever put off the books you actually want to be reading?

All the goddamn time!! I’m actually doing it right now. All of last week I was on countdown for my exams to finish so I can finally pick up Chain of Iron and then my free week rolled around and I still haven’t picked it up. I swear it’s going to be the next book I read … maybe.  

I’m also currently doing this with These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong, and I’ve been putting off Like a Love Story by Abdi Nazemian for wayyyy too long now, despite the fact that I’m dying to read it.
