I’m not going to lie I absolutely freaked when I saw the email for this Blog Tour. This was one of my most anticipated books of the year and I’m so thrilled I got to read it!

Publication Date: 21st July 2020

Growing up under his punk rocker dad’s spotlight, eighteen-year-old Luke Greenly knows fame and wants nothing to do with it. Hiding his gift and secretly hoarding songs in his bedroom at night, he prefers the anonymous comfort of the locally popular podcast he co-hosts with his outgoing and meddling, far-too-jealousy-inspiringly-happy-with-his-long-term-boyfriend twin brother, Cullen. But that’s not Luke’s only secret. He also has a major un-requited crush on music blogger, Vada Carsewell.

Vada’s got a five year plan: secure a job at the Loud Lizard to learn from local legend (and her mom’s boyfriend) Phil Josephs (check), take over Phil’s music blog (double check), get accepted into Berkeley’s prestigious music journalism program (check, check, check), manage Ann Arbor’s summer concert series and secure a Rolling Stone internship. Luke Greenly is most definitely NOT on the list. So what if his self-deprecating charm and out-of-this-world music knowledge makes her dizzy? Or his brother just released a bootleg recording of Luke singing about some mystery girl on their podcast and she really, really wishes it was her? My favourite books of the year (so far!)

Helloo and welcome to my blog :)))giphy

I usually sit here and prattle for a paragraph or two but I’m getting straight to the point today because I actually wanna go curl up in bed and read.

Before that though I am going to be talking about my favourite books of the year so far.

In the completely crazy year that is 2020 I have so far read 48 books which is wayyyy more than I thought I’d read all year let alone only up to now and yet my favourites really weren’t hard to pick out.

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

ninthhouse

Ninth House was the first book that I completed this year and so because of that I keep forgetting I read it in 2020.

I feel like it’s hard to give an accurate description of this book but basically it follows Galaxy “Alex” Stern who has lived a hard life to the point that, by age twenty, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. She is offered a full ride to Yale in exchange for monitoring the schools secrete society.

This book was something completely new to me. It was dark, daring, it made me uncomfortable so many times to the point I was reading through my fingers and yet I couldn’t put it down.

It’s also not for the faint of hearted as there are a lot of trigger warnings: addiction, abuse, assault, graphic details and descriptions of blood and injuries, to name but a few.

I believe the sequel is set for 2021 which is kind of sad because I was hoping it’d be released this year but also kinda of good because then I won’t feel bad going and re-reading this. Full Review Here.

🌼Top 5 Books I Read This Spring🌼

Guys I’m stressed. There’s a thousand bars in my town and yet everyone from my school goes to the one right opposite my house. They can see inside my living room window 😂. I feel like going out on my balcony and telling them to go find some other place to serve their underage ass.

Instead of doing that I’m going to channel my anxiety into talking all about the best books I read this spring.

In the last three months I have read 30 books. 30!!! I’m shocked too. And yet even though I’ve read so much my top 5 are pretty clear.

Cutest Romances // Top 5 Tuesday

aaaa

Ugh. It’s one of those days today. One of those days where I could quite happily stay in bed all day, not talking to anyone, not doing anything.

But alas school work calls and my teachers continue to haunt me through emails.

A bright spot in today though is that I’m going to be talking all about the Cutest Romances💕.

Persephone & Hades (Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe)

This web comic was all over my Goodreads last week and I was intrigued so I started reading and I love this so much. It’s a retelling of the Persephone and Hades where they’re still gods but it has a more modern twist to it.

Not only is the artwork so beautiful that each chapter I’m blown away but the plot is just as good. I’m not even up to these two being official yet but already the cuteness level is high and I can’t wait to read on.

If you’re interested in reading this you can read it on Here on WebToon Continue reading “Cutest Romances // Top 5 Tuesday”

The High School Musical Book Tag (aka me living my best life)

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog.

I am doing something super exciting today: The High School Musical Book Tag.

High School Musical was my entire Childhood! I had a HSM lunch box, a Gabriella doll, all the DVDs and CDs (including the concert version) which I played on a loop, my primary school had a High School Musical singing club and we performed “Breaking Free” during an assembly and I went to cinema to watch the third movie.

I watched these movies so much that even my parents know all the words.

And so believe me when I say I jumped up and down in my chair with excitement (which I’m only slightly ashamed of) when I found out this was a book tag that existed.

I tried finding the original creator to this tag but I think that post has since been deleted because I can’t find it. Either way I’m super excited though to re-live my childhood today and combine it with books!

The Start of Something New: A new favourite genre/author/series

sosn

A new favourite author of mine is definitely Erin Hahn. I fell in love with her debut novel You’d Be Mine last year and my love for her multiplied when I read her sophomore novel More Than Maybe a month or two back. She writes such entertaining books filled with humour and music. I can’t wait for it’s official release and to read more from her. March Wrap Up

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog.

Well March was a month that happened wasn’t it. I was expecting a month filled stressing over exams and instead I’ve spent the last two and a half weeks binge-watch Brooklynn 99 and I managed to read 9 books!

I’m literally 10 books ahead of schedule on my Goodreads challenge and I’m feeling very accomplished right now.

How to self-isolate without dying of boredom // TBR ?? Kinda. Idk

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog.

Raise your hand if your country is on lock-down for the next two weeks and you can be fined for leaving your house without a valid reason! 🖐 Me.

Me and my dad went out this morning, just to the corner booze shop to stock up on the most important things: alcohol, and the whole time I was singing the song from TikTok “Don’t be suspicious, don’t be suspicious” and now it’s been in my head all day.

Basically today I’m going to be talking how exactly I plan to keep sane during these next two weeks. I still have class, kinda. My Latin and Greek teacher is making us do class for 2 hours over WhatsApp! This is the time we’re living in. But apart from that my plans include:

Reading so much.

My expectations for reading this month were low since this month was meant to be jam packed with exams as it’s technically the end of term. With everything that’s going on though I think I can probably squeeze a fair few things in.

I’m currently reading:

secetThe Secrete History by Donna Tart- I’ve been reading this for what feels like forever and I’m only 200-ish pages in. It’s interesting but so slow. I’ve just hit a turning point, I think, I hope, so this will definitly be getting finished this month.

The Goblet of Fire Illustrated by Jim Kay– I started reading this to ease my anxiety and planned to read a chapter a day before bed but I’ve been flying through this. I’m always so taken aback by how beautiful the illustrations are. Continue reading “How to self-isolate without dying of boredom // TBR ?? Kinda. Idk”

Authors A-Z: A-B-C-D-E // Top 5 Tuesday

aaaa

Hi, hey, hello and happy Tuesday!

I am so excited for this months round of Top 5 Tuesday topics going through the alphabet and talking all about authors. I’m sure I’m going to be as uncreative as possible but I’m looking forward to talking about some of my faves.

I’ve decided to use authors first names as I go through the alphabet this month just because. I have literally no reasoning behind this decision.

Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Shannah @ Bionic Book Worm.
